I Couldn't Help Myself

My mom wanted to run to a little volunteer run store we have called the Fair Priced Clothing store to look for a pair of shoes.
I thought I would go in with her to see if by chance they had any decent tennis shoes in my size.
No shoes in my size, but right on the desk up front was this basket. I grabbed it quick.
Did I NEED more thread? Oh, not really. I have lots of it already. But, how can you pass it up for just $1 including the basket too??
Actually there are some colors in there that I am out of and even some of the invisible thread that I use to sew the yo-yo's together.
The bundle of Sharpies in the basket and just 10 cents. I couldn't pass those up either because I never can find one when I need it. I'm going to find my own hiding place for these.
Have a great Saturday!!

These are the sort of stores that I cannot go to without coming out empty handed! A beautiful basket, Marsha!

Mostly this store only takes clothing and shoes and purses and such, but they have one room I always check that has other things that have been brought in. I have passed up some things like last time a big bag of yarn. Kicking myself now because I have some things I want to make.

Sounds like you got a good deal for your basket of goodies sorry to hear you could not find a pair of tennis shoes in your size.

Lol, I am the same way about candles or candle holders. If I see them for a good price I can't help but get them-even though I really don't need them either. I absolutely love thrift stores!

@LovingMyBabies My daughter shops in a thrift store in the town where she works and every week she is finding great deals...and sends me pictures of everything she gets. Maybe some day I can go to that town and check it out too.

@marsha32 Some of them are more expensive than others here. The one we go to is privately owned and for a candle holder they charge $.10-$.25!

I do better to stay away, but once I made a whole child's quilt with just $1.49 worth of fabrics from the Salvation Army. I don't remember what I sold it for after I made it but it was a lot more than I paid for the materials. Those finds are so rare though.

You know, I'm pretty sure even if I had an abundance of money I would still be a bargain hunter.

I know some of the ladies that volunteer to work there. I need to find out where the momey they earn goes to...but I'm sure it's a good cause. Plus, they also give out clothing vouchers to those in need and they cann fill a trash bag of clothes free.

It's rare that I have bought a new spool of thread in all my sewing years. I love finding things like this at yard sales and estate sales.
Most of the quilters won't begin to use this thread as it's old, but I've not had too many issues with that aspect.....and, I'm no pro either.

It's what I look for when I go to yard sales. It's rare that I buy any of my craft items new.
