Day 151 Proverbs 17:10 Proverbs 17:10 A reproof enters more into a wise man than a hundred stripes into a fool. Nobody cares for discipline, yet when you take the discipline to heart and learn from it, you will be better off for it. However, some people refuse to learn, no matter how many times you discipline them or try to teach them. They will persist in their ways. Nobody likes working with those kinds of people. Solomon was a businessman, as well as king. He saw those who refused to learn and he saw those who were teachable. He called those who refused instruction, fools, and those who were teachable as wise. Jesus also taught about the wise man and the fool. One built his house on the sand and the other on a rock. The one was teachable, the other did things his own way. Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that hears these sayings of mine, and does them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. As Christians, you have every tool you need to be a wise master builder. You have the Word of God, and other believers to encourage and support you through prayer and bless you with what you need to get the job done God has called you to do. 1 Corinthians 3:9 For we are laborers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. 10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds thereon. But let every man take heed how he builds thereupon. 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Wisdom builds, fools tear down. Proverbs 9:1 Wisdom hath built her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars: 2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table. 6 Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding. 7 He that reproves a scorner gets to himself shame: and he that rebukes a wicked man gets himself a blot. 8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. 9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. 10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. It is better to be wise and receive instruction, than to be a fool and persist in your own ways. Let’s pray: Father, help me be a wise master builder, building my life on the Word of God, not on what I think will be good for my life. Help me be teachable so I can teach others who are willing to learn. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 6 February 2017 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

We are never too old or wise to learn.

As they say: "Some never learn!" Those that don't want to learn will suffer the consequences.
