Day 152 Proverbs 17:11 Proverbs 17:11 An evil man seeks only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him. Everyone wants to see justice served. With so much evil in this world, we want to see every one of them get what’s coming to them. Solomon was no different. As king, he was in a better position to handle wicked people than the regular citizen was, and as such he sent cruel messengers their way. As Christians, when Satan comes at us trying to destroy us, we have an arsenal at our disposal. It’s called the Word of God. Jesus employed it when Satan tempted him in the wilderness. To Satan, the Word of God is a cruel messenger, Christians are a cruel messenger. Satan has already received his sentence for causing the war in heaven. He only waits for the final judgment before his sentence is carried out. In the meantime, he has free reign to do everything he can to make our lives miserable, hence all the trouble in the world today. With God’s Word at our disposal, we can pull down strongholds, we can break down the gates of Hell, we can stand in our armor, we can resist. We can do that because no weapon formed against us will prosper. 2 Corinthians 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (KJV) Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, says the LORD. God’s Word is our refuge and our strength. Evil is abundant in the world, but the men and women of God are more powerful than those who practice evil and we are their cruel messengers. Let’s pray: Father, help me be a cruel messenger to every wicked person who would come against me. Help me use the Word of God as my weapon against Satan and all he plans for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 7 February 2017 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
