Friends, I am typing these lines at the bus stop. The bus that will take my friend and myself to my Friend's village will leave shortly.I had asked my friend if he was sure that the animals would come to the river bank and we would watch them.He smiled and replied in positive. We are going there.Let me see what luck has in its store for us.I am optimistic.

I hope your friend isn't leading you up the garden path. Do you know that saying? To lead someone up the garden path means to trick or deceive them.

& JudyEv,First of all, thanks a lot for the idiom you have mentioned in your response.I didn't know it.Thanks again for enriching my vocab. No,my friend had not led me up the garden path, yet it was not as wonderful and exciting a trip as I had excepted it to be.All I could see there was the silhouetted figure of a hyaena who emerged from behind a bush, moved towards the river, paused a little, turned back and slinked into undergrowth. We couldn't see anything thereafter. And now I'm back home.Lol !!

@JudyEv Exactly. He must have discovered my presence. All I could see was his undulating gait.

@else34 Wild animals can be very hesitant about showing themselves if there is anything the least bit different about their surroundings.

I'm back from the village. It was not as exciting a trip as we had expected it to be.All we could see that night was the silhouetted figure of a hyaena.Perhaps he discovered our presence and slinked in the undergrowth....And sorry,I don't have a good camera. The one I have is now with my brother who has gone to Mumbai to attend a marriage ceremony.

@diosabella Yes,hyaenas are dangerous, but they fear grown ups. However they sometimes kill small kids.We were perhaps too careless. That's why the animal discovered our presence and disappeared.

& marguicha,Thanks.Today is Sunday and I am back from the village. It was not so wonderful a trip. All we could see was the silhouetted figure of a hyaena who appeared from behind a bush, went to the river, turned back and slinked in the undergrowth.Thereafter we could not see anything.

& marguicha,Here there are many small villages some of which are only hemlets. You'll also find here small but dense jungles that are home to small wild animals. These animals sometimes stray into villages.

& Jessicalynnt,Yes,now I access mylot through a smartphone and am able to interact from anywhere. However I could see nothing except a hyaena who suddenly emerged from behind a bush, moved towards the river with his undulating gait, but suddenly stopped, turned back and disappeared in the undergrowth. That's all we could see there.
