Home from the Big City

My missus and I went to the big city today to celebrate our youngest son's birthday with him by going to church with him this morning and then taking him to lunch. His choice for lunch was the Cheesecake Factory. He and I chose the Monte Cristo Sandwich off the Brunch Menu. The missus had Fried Wonton Salad. Our appetizer was fried mac-and-cheese. For dessert, we each tried a different style of cheesecake. My missus had let our server know it was our son's 21st Birthday, so his cheesecake came with a candle and several servers singing Happy Birthday to him. The big moment came when the server brought him a mimosa. It was his first adult beverage enjoyed here in the US. He had already enjoyed the beers and wines of Germany when he worked there this past summer. Our baby is now 21. Oh how the time has flown.

That was a milestone birthday and he should rightly be tasting a mimosa. Anyway honestly I do not know what a mimosa is but the way you talked about it surely must be an adult drink

A mimosa is a breakfast drink of orange juice and champagne. Our server made a show out of delivering it as my wife had let her know it was his 21st.

Sounds like fun! I've been to the Cheesecake factory once last year and loved it.

We don't go there often. Usually for a special occasion.

Sometimes it seems that way. I was just remembering how proud he was at age 6 to become a Tiger Scout.

Time does fly with these kids, doesn't it? That would have been a meal to remember.

The only thing missing was our oldest son being there. His birthday was Friday. It was his 25th.

While my wife is ready to embrace the idea, and I'm okay with it, neither of our sons is in any hurry. Our oldest says he won't be thinking of getting seriously involved until he makes Captain and our youngest until he finishes his PhD.

By coincidence, my girlfriend and I were talking about Monte Christo's not five minutes before I read this. Happy Birthday to your son!

I enjoy a well prepared Monte Cristo Sandwich. My favorite is still the ones the restaurant I worked in years ago made.

His girlfriend and some of his friends are taking him out tomorrow night. He's promised there will be plenty of Designated Drivers as a lot of his friends aren't 21 yet, including his girlfriend.

I'm glad he had a happy birthday. I've never been to the Cheesecake Factory. I have seen it from the highway when I go to Milwaukee, but there isn't any here. Sounds like an interesting restaurant.
