Fine Craftsmanship in a Bench

Nannup in Western Australia is or was a timber town. Nearby is the Tree Top Walk and the Valley of the Giants. The 'giants' in this case are the massive karri trees for which the area is famous. Nowadays there are still craftsmen creating fine timber furniture but the timber industry is mostly finished.
Slabs of timber can still be found and a lovely park bench has been fashioned here from several wide slabs. The supports have been fashioned straight from branched trunks and the whole held together with a carefully crafted metal framework.

@JudyEv I remember when we just go married and our house was bare, I improvised too. I gave my husband a surprise when I bought him a radio and placed it on the case that it came in. I put some nice cloth and it looked like a neat piece of furniture.

@allknowing I have a pair of speakers pushed together and covered with a tablecloth. They make a nice bedside table.

@JudyEv Prob, not that I have heard of, but people do steal the oddest things now and then, and that one is pretty!

It is a beautiful bench. I love such furniture where the natural look of the tree/wood is retained. Such a nice craftsmanship.

It is indeed. Craftsmen here seem quite keen to keep as much to natural shapes and forms as they can, particularly for outdoor furniture.

Cool that's cool. I hope the trees are fine and keeps growing and replaced everytime they cut one.

Often they use timber that has fallen. They are much more aware now of how many trees are cut down.

! Looks very artsy - unique compared to the typical slat benches. I would love to get my hands on such benches for our yard!!
