A HOAX?

Sunday evening I received a warning message on my Whatsapp. It stated that cosmic rays emanating from the planet Mars will pass close to earth between the hours of 12.30a.m. and 3.00 a.m., and that all cellphones, tablets, computers etc should be turned off. It further advised that our cellphone should be kept away from our body - otherwise we could suffer terrible damage.
Well, there was no report about this on our local news, so I checked Google and found out that the warning messages have been circulating on social media, including Facebook, - and that it is all a hoax. Have you received any such message?

@enlightenedpsych2 Because it was affecting so many electronic devices, and everything I have has been just fine. Granted I don't have all those devices, just a cell phone and my desktop, but nothing happened to them.

@Kandae11 i also read a message from a high school classmate that some messages intended to be distributed to your contacts, have malwares and bugs or virus, that is why when a message reaches my inbox messenger, i should delete them

I don´t pass "messages" on like that either . Specially the ones that say you will have bad luck if you don´t seeing as I don´t give a hoot or believe them anyway I ignore them and let them go on their way.
Have not got a Hoax like that lately though.

That is what Whatsapp does. There is a continuous flow of data clogging the cell. I do not have that App

I believe if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it is a duck. If it sounds like a hoaxs it most likely is. No I didn't hear about it but if it is not from a news media I trust, I don't believe it.

These spam whatsapp messages are bogus, they have no logical basis at all. They should always be confirmed on the net
Though the "ur cellphone should be kept away from our body - otherwise we could suffer terrible damage." thing is kind of true in a general sense.

I haven't seen it but normally when I see things that are concerning in respects to our health or technology I do as you did and try to see if it is real or some hoax made up by someone who is bored and wants to stir things up by spreading a lie that gets people worked up for nothing.
