It is World Radio Day today. Technology has progressed leaps and bounds and today we could even listen to radio stations through internet. We could listen to Radio programmes even through our mobile phones. I still love to listen to Radio. I listen to news and musical programmes. Do you like to listen to Radio or transistor?

My whole family is radio lover. My parents have their own transistors and my mom has set it in kitchen. My father in law keeps it on almost all day.

@Bodyandbrain Yes, we could listen to Radio even from a distance. You could try the suggested FM channels and then let me know your feedback about it.

@dpk262006 you are absolutely right, radio does not require us to sit around it that's why I like it. I will try the channels you mentioned.

You do not listen to Radio because you don't possess any? Is it? TV news aired by Private TV channels is different from Radio news. It is convenient to read news through internet.

This is an important day. I just learned it from your discussion. However, I think today people pay more attention to the Valentine's Day much more

World Radio day was yesterday not today. May be you saw the discussion today. Does not matter if people are talking about Valentine's Day today. Do you own a radio?

@youless It means you have no interest in listening to Radio. It would be better to discard your old Radio.

@dpk262006 Yes, I read your discussion today. I have a radio at home but actually we don't use it for quite a long time. Today we seldom listen to it.

I grew up with the radio! But these days I only listen to the radio in the car . . . mostly for music but sometimes the news too. When I'm at home, I admit I pick and choose my music from YouTube so I can watch videos at the same time .

Yes, you are right that radio is now a thing of the past. However, with the advent of FM channels (mostly run by private agencies here) people listen to music on their Radios. Also, now a days most of the cars have in built radios and people listen to Radios, while travelling. I also listen to Radio, while driving my car and love to listen to news. Youtube option is always available for you to enjoy videos of your choice.

@much2say Yes, you could be your own DJ on YouTube and could watch whatever you feel like. If radio is playing on in car, there is no need of listening to our own music. Radio Jockey will take care of our needs.

@dpk262006 I guess these days YouTube is my home "radio" and I am the DJ! . Some people play their own music in the car, but still I prefer the car radio.

A job I admire are radio DJs. They get to work with music and broadcasts, it is so cool. I don't listen to the radio as much as I used to, but thanks to the radio, music streaming was invented and that is what I used the most.

Yes, you are right that the job of Radio DJs are very interesting and they keep you glued to your Radio sets. What made you stop listening to Radio? Do you prefer to go for live streaming through net?

@DesirousDreamer Yes, I agree with you. Live streaming allows you to listen music of your choice.

@dpk262006 Because radios just play the same dang songs, it gets boring. I love live streaming music, I use youtube music app to stream all the time.

@LadyDuck It means that it has been ages, when you used to listen to Radio, while working in the kitchen. If your current radio is lying unused, you should either bring it into life or you could dispose of it.

@dpk262006 I used to listen to the radio when we lived in Monte-Carlo, it was in the entry in front of the kitchen, so I listened to the radio while I cooked. Yes we have a radio now, but it is downstairs in the room with the fireplace, we do not go there a lot.

You have asked a good question. Guglielmo Marcon, who was an Italian inventor invented the radio. He sent and received his first radio signal in Italy in 1895.

@sol_cee I understand Tesla is - The tesla (symbol T) is a unit of measurement of the strength of a magnetic field. It is a derived unit of the International System of Units, the modern form of the metric system. One tesla is equal to one weber per square meter. The unit was announced during the General Conference on Weights and Measures in 1960 and is named in honor of Nikola Tesla.

We listen to the radio for a while most nights when we first go to bed. Mostly we listen to a classical channel.

I have my radio and CD player in the room where I do my craft work - there I can listen to the news or music without interrupting my work. My television is in my bedroom and my laptop I move around.
