I wanted to entitle this with the words, bend over but I was concerned that the myLot Word Police would consider it a tad risqué. So you got something else, you lucky bunch of misfits.
I went to see the GP yesterday. She {wo-}manhandled my legs ... pushed them this way and that way, up and down, round and round, do the hokey-cokey ... and then she asked me to bend over and touch my toes.
Which I did.
Heavens! I didn't know I could touch my toes. I was so proud of myself that I quite fancied doing a little jig around the surgery, but you know, knee and all that jazz. She doesn't think it's my joints. My back is perfect. I popped back to the surgery this morning so that the vampire nurse could steal three vials of my blood, and if I hear nothing it means all is well with everything.
In the meantime I have some anti-inflammatory gel to rub on my knee. My knee still hurts even after it's been applied, and last night - in bed - I was still in agony.
*sigh*
After I left the surgery yesterday morning I remembered that there were a lot of things I forgot to tell her. I forgot to tell her how exhausted I always am, both mentally and physically. I forgot about the odd little things like the nausea and the pain that comes and goes in my foot/ankle. I didn't bother telling her about how I don't think my antiD's are working anymore ... there's only so much a girl can deal with at any one time, you know?
And that's the tale of my visit to the doctor.

I can still touch my toes....my mom was 89 when she passed away. She could still put her hands flat on the ground...I'm not that flexible.

I have never been able to do that! I might start practicing for it though. :)

@Poppylicious If you do that you might get a bit of a reputation and your talent will be recorded on the front of your notes and every time you go to see the doctor even for a sore throat they'll ask you to bend over and put your hands flat on the floor. You'll be their entertainment. They'll be fighting over you.

@poppylicious My FIL was a GP and when patients had a multiple complaints he drew up a list and attended to two per session.

@Poppylicious Still, it's nice not to see that 'Oh it's you again' expression on your usual doctor's face. I don't know why some of them have that attitude though. I'd happily listen to people wittering away about this and that all day for their pay.

I loathe visiting the doctor so much that I tend to save up all my ailments. I like seeing the trainee GPs as they have half hour slots and really want to do well. When I was diagnosed with depression this time round I had one of those and he was lovely and sweet. Unfortunately they only stay for a couple of months.

Ben Dover was the person my headmaster invoked just before he used the cane. I never knew who he was or why he should be called upon to witness the pain of small boys (which was legally possible in those far-off days, by the way). For some reason, lesser offences were invoked in the name of a (possibly Indian) philospher or dignitary, Putautchoor Hand.
I'm sorry to hear about your aches and pains. It does seem to be so difficult to remember them all to mention at the doctor's surgery and some doctors are only too well aware that the rules are 12 minutes per patient and only one affliction to be dealt with per session. I have often thought that it would be a good idea to jot them down as a shopping list but then I would be afraid that I wouldn't understand my notes and wouldn't remember exactly what the symptoms were when it came to it.

I never met Ben Dover or Putautchoor Hand on account of being so young. :)
If I wrote a list I'd probably end up telling the doctor I have toilet paper and butternut squash before going off to buy some anxiety and tension!

Thank you. That pain comes and goes, and I think is mostly affected by how much pressure I'm subconsciously putting on it, due to the knee. Possibly. Who knows? :)

@Poppylicious To practice helps, it seems that women are more flexible than men, this is what my physiotherapist says at least.

Thank you. I think I might keep practicing touching my toes every day so that I can stay flexible!

@Poppylicious Exercise is good, as long as it doesn't make you think of food!
