The Owl on my Keyboard - Owls and writers are all expected to be real smarty-pants. Both of those critters inhabit my computer keyboard. Sometimes I wonder why it is that if owls are so smart, they are not also rich. Kind of like me, a would-be writer. Were I so doggone smart, how come I don't wallow in money and gold and the like instead of just a pile of words. With that smarty-pants owl sitting there on the keyboard, finding the proper letters with which to write is not the easiest task in the world. With that computer keyboard under his feet, dodging my fingers as I try to spell words correctly is somewhat of a nightmare for the owl. Owls, as do writer-hopefuls, deserve whatever they get from both typing-fingers and from readers. Who gives a hoot? Image: The Owl on my Keyboard - Gus Kilthau

owls are always depicted as giving philosophical type of advice, maybe that should be your alter ego, the advisory owl.

@Plethos - As you point out, owls tend to advise. My own advice to owls is to be hanging around my keyboard to hoot at me and at what I try to write but but to not leave their owl droppings on the keys. Now, THAT is philosopy that even an owl might understand. -Gus-

Maybe owls are thinking that earning money is not that smart. They have no taxes to pay, you know, and they perhaps think that a worm is better than a dollar ? I have not a owl but a panda on my keyboard, and there are times where I would like to be a panda?

@topffer - Hi "Digger" - With that panda staring back at you as you type on your keyboard, do you get the sense that you are amidst a real pandemonium of input? -Gus-

He looks cute, but can't be very wise to take up residence on your keyboard

Owls are pretty good lookers, the way they can scan almost a full circle from their perch... Writers need that skill too, appreciating the opposing point of view.

@pgntwo - Friend PGN - I appreciate the opposing point of view as long as it agrees with me. -Gus-

He needs a quiet roosting place during the day so put him to one side while you're being a writer.

@JudyEv - Ms Judy - That would probably take all of fun out of beating on the keyboard. -Gus-

@JudyEv - Ms Judy - Well, that owl IS quite a character, as are most of its kind - so I will allow him to remain atop the "O" key. -Gus-

@Ceerios He'd better stay there then. We don't want all the fun taken out of things.
