Man, what a rough morning!

Ever have one of those mornings? First cup of coffee: fine. Bowl of cereal: fine. Clinical supervision: fine. But it was downhill from there.
I had six progress notes to print out, and my computer wasn't working right. Sometimes I couldn't even access my own email. I found the tech guy, and he helped me "sort of" fix things." I got my notes printed out. But I can still only access my work email intermittently.
I checked on my lone snow pea plant at Ground Squirrel Gardens. Munched to the ground my some varmint.
But work pays! That's a part of why I do it. I had my $650 mileage and expense reimbursement check in my pocket, plus $150 in cash from recent gigs. I drove to Bank of America, dollar signs in my eyes. The machine outside wouldn't take my check.
But hey, the line inside was only about eight people deep. There were three tellers. No problem. But one guy was buying an island or something. He plugged one window the whole time I was there. And another guy was talking up the cute young teller at the second window. Half an hour later, the young stud left and the cute teller put up the "Next Window Please" sign, right in the face of the older Filipino-looking dude in front of me, who was leaning on the "We Aim to Please Our Customers" sign, exhausted.
Finally, he got served, did a brief transaction, and it was my turn. At least the teller was nice to me, though she was a quiet talker, and I could hardly hear her through the bullet-proof glass. We joked about my disdain for technology. At least I think we did.
Do I dare check my B of A on-line to make sure the transaction went through? Do I dare take out my afternoon kid client? Or should I climb back in bed and play my guitar?

Sounds to me like the latter would be best. You could write a new blues song, lot of material in your tale.

James, someone beat me to it. I used to hear this song on the radio once in awhile. It's kind of a parody of middle class white boys like me singin' the blues about our middle class white boy problems. Three minutes is enough to get the idea. Had you heard it? It makes me chuckle.

@TheHorse I will listen to that a bit later, but the Nick Manson got my attention. I saw him here last year with a great flugelhorn player, Dmitri Matheny who plays in your area as well. I bought his and Nick Manson's CD.

@TheHorse that is good news. Spending time with a child can change our outlook.....and yours seemed pretty positive even after numerous setbacks.

I don't know, picking up a bank teller in the middle of her shift is pretty impressive.

On day like that it's best just to climb back into bed. Tomorrow is another day. I hope it will be better.

That guy in that picture helped me picture you (lol) My advice do not check yet if you want to end the day well. Playing on the guitar would be a nice idea. Strum away but never the song 'Show me the way to go home'

Oh yes, I have had days like that, except usually something good happens to offset the bad. First, let me explain what I do on Sundays and Mondays. I help my daughter at her dog grooming shop by bathing the dogs and helping a groomer if a dog is not holding still. You mention about this is work that pays, this is purely volunteer.
So, Sunday we had scheduled 2 dogs from last Monday because the city lost power due to a tree hitting the power lines. Both these dogs have behavioral problems, but the one was improving a lot and both are small dogs. Now as you read about my day, my typical is bathing 4-5 small dogs, or 3-4 small dogs and a large dog.
We started off with a teacup poodle who is usually very good, but was not cooperating and as the groomer was finishing her, she threw up a little, so we believe she was sick.
The next dog was a bischon, who is also usually good and was not, and I remember saying, "please don't let this be a precursor to how this day is going to turn out"
Next was the yorkie who is usually bad and she didn't let us down this day. So even though these dogs are all small, I am getting really tired by now.
Fortunately I got a good break. A beautiful lab/husky mix came in for a nail clip and he was so good and sweet, it made my day to love on him while he got his nails cut.
Then came a pit bull. She is really sweet, but hates the dryer, so after I bathe her, I went into the main room to dry her only to see the bischon and yorkie were taking up the tables and my daughter said to dry the dog in the bathing room. This means on the floor, so I hook her leash to my leg and fortunately I didn't loss my leg as she tried to get away, but I was able to dry her.
My daughter, for some reason, added another dog for a bath. This was a schnauzer, one we used to do, but we think because we are the only groomer open on Sundays, the owner came in so she could get a bath. She was good until I tried drying her head and I did my best, but wasn't able to dry her as well. Turns out my daughter forgot to mention the dog has seizures and is sensitive about her head.
The Shih Tzu was next, the one that was improving must have had a really bad day. The 2 groomers prepping him took a break, so the other groomer and I worked to finish his prep for his bath. Now, most dogs don't like baths or the dryer, but this dog went after me every time I touched his head or legs, so I had to get the handling gloves.
Last was a sheltie. She was really good as usual, and I was able to get her done quickly, but after bathing 7 dogs and helping with one, I was so ready to go home, get a shower, and crash for the night.
