This is an amusing song association. “Papa’s Got A Brand New Bag” is a song by James Brown from 1968. Now I know that in the song they were not referring to an actual bag of any kind and there is no Papa here who is changing is lifestyle. What we do have is Sid a cat who has a real, genuine brand new bag. Whenever we go shopping we always use our own cloth bags. However when we stock up on essential grocery items we order them to be delivered because we don’t have a car and cannot bring back home too many heavy bags. Well when they deliver we wind up with lots of plastic shopping bags. Sid always picks and chooses among the bags and like to totally curl up into one of them so that you cannot even see him. Last night he went into one of the bags and promptly went to dreamland. Sometime during the night he got a bit tangled up and my hubby said while I was sleeping jumped up on the bed meowing bag and all. This morning I found him sleeping curled up soundly. When he finally got up the handle of the bag had twisted around his paw and shoulder and the bag was being dragged behind him. This amusing scene brought to mind this song and the catchy beat made me laugh. Sid wanted to go out so I picked him up at the bedroom door and carefully got the bag off of him. He had his run and then returned to the safe haven of his bag. What kind of amusing things do your cats do? Do you know this song?
