How "Interesting Discussions" are decided?

Any idea what is the logic to decide the interesting Discussions in myLot? Is it related to the users anyway?
I generally check Hot discussions and interesting discussions.. Today I found there are 3 discussions which I started are in top 5. However there are lot of other topics by other users which are responded/liked more. Is it different for you? Or I really bring up the interesting topics?

I think it is tags we used and quite confused whether it is coming from the likes and comments.
