I came from a a wonderful weekend getaway and I am so glad to hear that there were no classes today. That means I can get all the rest I need since I do not have to get up early to prepare kids to school.
However, I am not happy with the way classes are suspended. There is a nationwide strike happening because many jeepney drivers are against the government's implementation of phasing out all the 15-year old jeepney transportation. I hope that there is a chance to resolve this soon.

The transport strike did a lot of harm to commuters no doubt. News reports say that the transport strike was successful in key areas around the country. As for the planned phaseout of aging vehicles, I agree with it. Those vehicles do more harm than good.

People generally want to maintain the status quo and dislike change.

That planned phaseout has long been planned and it has not been implemented by past administrations because of lack of political will. I wonder if it will be carried out this time. I'm sure that policy makers have made preparations to avoid people losing their jobs as drivers/conductors because I believe they will be given access to financing to purchase new units to replaced the outdated jeepneys. It's even the best time to improve mass transport which would ease traffic congestion.
