Recently my friend and I have been watching weather related movies to prepare for the trivia contest that we play. This year's theme is weather. Enter the movie "Noah". I was excited to see this movie thinking it would be a film version of the Bible story. Nothing could be farther from the truth... While the characters were the same (Noah, his wife and their sons) -- a lot of liberties were taken with the Biblical story. While the effects were wonderful and the story had plenty of twists - I really wish that there would have been a disclaimer slapped on this -- "artistically re-imagined from the Biblical text". But alas no disclaimer. I sort of want to address some of the larger errors, but I don't want to spoil for those waiting to see it.
I did think Jennifer Connolly and Ray Winstone did wonderfully in their roles
Here's a link to a video explaining some of the ways this was inaccurate:

I don't think I've even heard of it, honestly.

Not missing too much, in my opinion. :-)

@FayeHazel And if you don't know the 'real' story it's easy to believe what's being fed to you. I guess this is more true where film-makers take liberties when doing someone's life story or whatever. They bend the facts for better effect but some believe it's what happened.

So true. I would have made the difference in liking it or not for me

@JudyEv The real story?
I was just saying... Did he save all those weird animals from Oz? I can't remember them being mentioned in the bible, or in the song.

When it first came out I read about the "liberties" they took with the story. I get tired of that. I'm glad I knew because I don't want to give money to people who misinterpret the Bible. I appreciate anyone bringing a Bible story to the big screen, but sometimes they go too far with the changes.

I agree - I think it was very unbecoming of them - at very least warn people. One I did enjoy even though it's an old movie is "The Ten Commandments" from the 1950s. They also took some liberties, but it's things that weren't stated happened or didn't. Things you could easily imagine as (possibly) happening....

I never watch movies associated with religion. The last I saw was some chariot chase with Charlton Heston I think, long ago.

Hm, I wonder which one... might have been "The Ten Commandments" or "Ben Hur"... movies of that era have such beautiful color in them I think

@JamesHxstatic I have often wondered why we don't really have anything comparable in today's cinema

I had no interest in this movie because of the liberties taken with the story.

After I watched it, I remembered a friend who had seen it when it came out who was displeased...

I've not seen the movie, but it wouldn't bother me if it wasn't true to the story in the bible. I'd like to think the animals going on two by two was cut down in some way as that could take some time. Did he rescue all those weird ones from Australia?
Ricky Gervais has a good take on Noah's Ark, if you get a chance to see that.
