Compression fractures and shoulder problems

My wife Anne has both. The L3 vertebrae has a compression fracture and her right shoulder has rotator cuff problems. Scans and other diagnostics have shown that these are problems that are causing a lot of pain, along with her fibromyalgia.
Oddly, for a city our size there are few docs who deal with compression fractures. This is not her first one and so we are going to Portland for a consultation at Oregon Health and Science University. She got a very non-invasive fix there several years ago, in and out in one day with some excellent care.
This visit is just a consultation and we will leave early tomorrow morning and drive back when we are finished. I am hoping that some good alternatives to surgery are available. She has had to stop her Tai Chi classes for now and misses that a lot.
Your good wishes for Anne will be appreciated.

It is only 100 miles each way, but traffic is heavier in the afternoon coming home.

@JamesHxstatic 100 horrid miles. I dread our next drive to your world though once I get there I will not be such a downer.

@sallypup I have driven it so many times. Going up is not bad, coming home can be harder.

I'm sorry to hear that Annie is suffering from these health issues. Does it interfere with her quilting?

It does, but she in the midst of one on the subject of "bridges" and keeps at it. I hang it on her design wall so she can see it that way.

Anne has fallen a number of times over the years, skiing, accidental tripping, and only once in the last nine years that I have known her. All that, combined with osteoporosis, could be it.

I know she is hurting since she is not doing Tai Chi. She loves it.
