Dictionary online or handbook

Online dictionaries are very helpfull when you need quick access to one or a few words. But, studying another language, I rather prefer a real (printed) dictionary where you find more options of the translations. If they include even some photos or other kind of images, it's easier to learn. So, a few days ago I've bought a new Cambridge Compact dictionary English - Spanish as I had no one in my bookshelves. Its use will help me to build up my vocabulary as I love reading even dictionaries, checking up for new words and the part of the grammar. Someone else still use dictionaries?

@Asylum The case is that I love studying languages and cultures, even the old ones, their customs, history, ideology, way of life...

I have an app for English dictionary on my phone. It is so useful especially when I am not sure how it is pronounced. I just listen as to how it is pronounced.

Knowing how to pronounce a word is also very important. It's a great app.

@Meramar They were when I was younger, but now I have an excellent vocabulary so online reference is adequate for an occasional word.

I prefer online dictionaries, specially WordReference.com or Linguee because apart from having the opportunity of listening to the pronunciations, you can also learn from several examples. This way you see how those words are used in context.

As more complete the dictionary, as more helpful it is!

I do have two dictonaries. One is very old one. The other is one I got from my community college. Sometimes I do use them. I bought a new thesaurus and I use it.

Yes, I do but now I'm finding the hard print really hard on my eyes. I think I might need new glasses.
