Why do people put limits on God?

This was born in another discussion where I responded to something someone said. I thought it was also a good discussion by itself.
God does NOT do what WE tell him to do. He does what HE wants. Just because people don't believe God would do something a certain way doesn't mean they should preach that He would ONLY do it the way they claim.
Too many people try to limit God to how THEY think He behaves. Their God is a very small and limited God because they don't allow him the expansive supernatural powers He actually has. Because they think something should be done "this" way, they demand it of Him and tell others He wouldn't do it any other way. It's not our job to limit God. It's our job to love others and to love or place no other Gods before Him. That includes Mammon, greed, avarice, lust, covetousness and a plethora of things we can all see happening in today's world - including by today's Christians.
How God created the world and the heavens and all creation is NOT the important part of faith. Whether or not the New Testament mentions musical instruments when the Old Testament clearly shows that the psalms were written for instrumental accompaniment is unimportant. Accepting Christ as His Son and recognizing him as the ONLY mediator between God and man are. The rest is just filler.
What matters more? How God created the universe or THAT he created the universe and we are permitted to partake of and enjoy it
There are going to be a lot of VERY surprised people come Judgment Day. STOP LIMITING GOD!!

Trying to place limits of God stems from I consider mankind's Greatest problem which is that Everybody Wants to Rule the World.
Mankind is a very controlling creature.
Keep in mind that All Religions are creations of Mankind. I have yet to find one that really Understands God at all. Religions also attempt to create God as they want God instead of Discovering what actually is.
God has many sons and daughters. I would not worry about any judgment day. On the other hand, we should all be careful of what lessons we might choose for ourselves. Some can choose some hard lesson for themselves.

I think many things you say are right on the money, although I also think it could be as simple as humans trying to "humanize" a being they can't possibly understand in human terms. But, when they try to force their understanding on others, I believe they have left their beliefs behind and have ventured into the humanistic perspective (despite there being a system that exists known as humanism).

I have great faith and I let the Lord lead me. I always look toward him when I need comfort and so on but I never make any demands.

True. Nevertheless, the story of creation does match with how science has established for the making of the world. People often forget, that common knowledge now isn't common knowledge then. Sometimes things had to be simplified into ways people back then could understand.
how can someone understand millions of days? but a series of days... is a little easier to grasp and follow a story.
