How Did I Not See This Tree Before Now? - On the almost daily mobility scooter rides around the area I try to be observant of sights that are somewhat out of the ordinary and worth a click or two of the camera shutter. How I missed taking note of this fairly spectacular tree, I do not know - but there it stands in absolutely plain sight. Today is a gray and cloudy day, but that may be the best possible day upon which to capture the image of this remarkable tree with my old Canon camera. The reason for that is because the tree, being a great big and leafy tree, casts shadows all over itself when in bright sunlight. So I gave this tree a cloudy day try for MyLot fame. There were some other noteworthy trees and some other things along the pathways, but their images will keep until the next post or two. One of those trees is the Sweetgum tree, a tree with multiple, sharp points on its leaves and lots and lots of sharp burrs on its one inch-diameter seed pods - hundreds of them hanging down from its branches. That is a magnificent-looking tree and well worth sharing here with us all. Some things are better taken when it is not too bright and sunny.

@JudyEv - Ms Judy - And some things are better taken in complete darkness, for example, that pile of money I saw on the table over there in the boss's office. -Gus-

@Ceerios Oh yes. There are some occasions that call for complete darkness.

That is a really pretty tree. A few of those would shade the entire yard in summer.

@PatZAnthony - Ms Pat - Right-on - but what surprised me about that tree was its gnarly shape. Most of the trees around here are straight up and down, but this one bends this way and that way, plus it is of huge size, too. -Gus-
