Waking Up To Snow

I slept in late this morning. It was quarter of nine by the time I rolled out of bed. Then I remembered I forgot to turn the clocks ahead. It was really quarter of ten.
My missus came in and told me it was snowing outside. Sure enough, a light snow was falling and it had accumulated on the leaves and branches of the trees and shrubs. Not much was sticking to the ground and none was accumulating on the road.
It is just past noon here now, and most of the snow has melted already. A few small flakes are still falling past now and then, but the temperature has already reached 37F(2C).
Our youngest son left to go back to college about an hour ago. I cautioned him to be careful of possible slick areas on bridges and overpasses. He is traveling north and west so there may be more snow in his path.
I am sad we did not wake up in the campground to this morning's snow. It was not enough to cause us a problem getting home, but it would have made for a nice memory.
Did you get any snow this weekend in your area?

I hope he made it to college safely. No snow it's actually warm out these past few days.

@DWDavis very nice to hear he got there safely :)
How long is the snow supposed to be there for?

@infatuatedbby The snow has already stopped falling here, and most of what little that did stick has already melted. Our thermometer out back is showing 37F(2C) though the weather bug on my phone says it's still 32F(0C) in town. Some sun is trying to break through the clouds.

@Lupita234 It just started raining again about 20 minutes ago and it is once again a cold dreary rain.

@LeaPea2417 A cold drizzle started just as I got home from work. The temp may be 50F(10C) but it is raw and bitter outside.

We've had occassional flurries that haven't amounted to anything, but the weather report fabricators are threatening us with 25cm! (That's a foot for you metrically challenged.) We've been lucky here in Hamilton and most of the snow storms have gone around us. Hope this one does, too.

@DWDavis Yes, sorry, I meant to correct that. Don't know why I typed 25 when I was thinking 30... Any snow over a centimetre is too much, as far as I'm concerned, but I guess some people like it. Do kids still play in it? (It's March break here this week.)

As a math teacher, though I live in a nation that has not yet (seriously, we've had over 200 years) made the switch to the metric system (really, we're still trying to spite 18th Century European intellectuals by not going metric - long time to hold a grudge) I know 25cm is just shy of 10 of our antiquatedly quaint inches.
I do hope the storm passes you by. 25cm or a foot, it's too much snow too late in the season.

@BarBaraPrz Around here the snow turns almost everyone into a kid. The only hills we have are around the highway overpasses and when we get over an inch of snow you can find all kinds of folks "sledding" on anything they can find.

Yeah we got about an inch of snow this weekend. We have a snow storm coming our way Monday evening into Wed evening 8-15 inches of snow. I'm sick of winter i just want it to be done with.

It hardly seems fair that you would get such a storm this late in the season. We are expecting rain to follow this dusting of snow, and some of the coldest temperatures of the year so far, this next week. I'm hoping by 3/21 spring will assert itself once and for all.

No snow here. It's supposed to be 60's and 70's all week. That said, for some reason, it looks like something is rolling in.

Lots of cold and wind, and a bit of snow. There were some accidents yesterday that impeded the traffic, but I had no problems getting to and from where I needed to go.

@DWDavis I am a very cautious driver these days, and even more so when conditions are less than perfect!

My old Marine roommate just showed a picture of the snow In South Carolina. Pretty neat. You guys do not get snow down their often. It snowed maybe once in the three years when I was stationed in North Carolina.

I woke up to a blanket of snow on everything. I did shovel the driveway and sidewalk but only because I wanted the sun to melt them clean when it came out. More snow is in our future though.

My former girlfriend, who lives in South Carolina now, sent me a video this morning showing her standing out in the snow. I could tell from the video that it was just a light dusting of snow, but she was super excited because she had never seen snow before!

@moffittjc Speaking of northerners, they certainly got to celebrate a lot of snow last week. No, I don't miss living in New England much right now. So glad to be home here in eastern NC.

@DWDavis I can also imagine how many northerners who were probably having a good laugh at how giddy with excitement she was! Us southerners don't get to celebrate snow very often!

Spring snows are nice, soft and melt pretty quickly. You get the pretty snow and poof it's gone!

@DWDavis That's the nice part. You get to enjoy it but don't have to live with it!
