National Guard called in to help with winterstorm

It was around 2 a.m. many in Pennsylvania started saying they were getting snow. I looked out the window and still nothing. 2:30 a.m. came still nothing so I checked my alerts and enlarged the radar view.
It was at that time I knew.. "Crap, we're in the eye of the storm." This storm had silently encircled us. Moving up from the south and slightly east this storm managed to shift westward which many ruled out. Here we were in the dead of night nothing happening then suddenly 3 a.m. .. 2:55 a.m. to be exact the storm hit.
It was a steady downfall from the start and the streets were covered in a matter of minutes. Today's photo, I'm sharing a low visibility image photo I took by the local school. It was around 9 a.m.
Roadways were a mess We already had 19 inches in some areas and 23 inches in others. Even local law enforcement was having a hard time getting around.
By noon, Gov Cuomo issued the National Guard to Broome County now being called "ground zero" of the 2017 storm called Stella.
I traveled out two other times on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, taking photos and videos, talking to local law enforcement. You know it's bad when the cop cars have chains on them.
Still quite sick from my sore throat and loss of voice issues, I have to admit the fresh air did me good. It really helped loosen up things in my chest. I didn't even know I was congested.
By 4 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon we hit 30 inches of snow. It was all the way up the top of my legs. Unable to go out in the storm I continued to get alerts. It was roughly 7 p.m. when we saw the first of the National Guard. A huge monster plow went down the street and in one push the snow was cleared.
I thought, "Wow, now that's a plow." The only problem is they did only one lane. With the county hit so hard they at least made is passable for emergency vehicles. I'm heading out ahead today to see the aftermath of the storm. And guess what "still snowing" it's not over until it's over.

Meanwhile on this side of PA, they forecast 8 to 12 inches of snow and we might have gotten 6, but it's been blowing around, so some places have no inches. The wind chill here is negative, so that's a concern more than the snow, which is still lingering, but essentially not doing anything.

We've had an advisory go out due to wind gust and drifting. Travel ban is lifted but they are still discouraging people from driving. Hardly anything touched today.

@WendySpickerman I'm under a self-imposed travel ban, though the roads are perfectly fine. I like a little isolation to get my work done. Although I did have to shovel out my driveway. There were some pretty hefty drifts across it.

You just make sure you keep that 'wintery stuff' up in your direction @WendySpickerman . I will make the trip to visit you if any of that winds up here in Texas.

Not really, Feb is the month we really start to see snow and its still early March. So snows not to surprising with the shift in the season. This storm was huge and though big. There was a time we've had snow in May. I'd say soring is here after this melts..
