Have you ever been sick for so long that when you got well you thought something was wrong?
I have chronic rhinitis. That's complicated by the fact that I live in one of the worst places in the entire United States for allergy sufferers. Around here we "lovingly" call it "the Ohio Valley Crud." That's really no joke, though: I go to Indianapolis, just 100 miles north, and I feel better. In fact, I do have a doctor's permission to move to Florida now! (I'm just trying to figure out if I can deduct is as a medical expense.
)
One of the new things they're trying out on me is a steroid nasal spray (Flonase). I've been on it for about a week, and it seems to have calmed a lot of things down. The ENT doctor also told me to do a nasal irrigation (as it's relatively early in the day I'll leave it to you to see what that is, lest I ruin your appetite for your Cheerios). So, last night, before bedtime, I did.
I felt as though I couldn't breathe...then it dawned on me. My sinuses were clear. I wasn't having to breathe around stuff.
That probably won't last long because our cold snap is about to end, bringing back spring weather and with it, more allergy problems. But it did feel good to have a "normal" feel for a little...even if I'm so used to the abnormal feel that it's "the new normal" for me!
Leave it to Homer & Jethro to butcher Bill Anderson's "I Love You Drops" into something appropriate:

What I really need is someone to redo "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair" to "I'm Gonna Wash That Goop Right Out of My Nose."

I hope the spring is kinder to you this time. It definitely is a weird feeling once a health problem has cleared up and you're not used to it. But a good one!
