Washington Nationals pitching coach Mike Maddux made the announcement on Thursday that Nationals right handed starting pitcher Max Scherzer who has been battling a stress fracture of his ring finger since last season will be making his spring training debut on Wednesday. Scherzer will pitching against the St. Louis Cardinals in his spring training debut on Wednesday. Washington Nationals manager Dusty Baker is doubtful that Scherzer is not likely to be ready on pitch on Opening Day. Schzerer believes that he will ready to pitching when the 2017 Major League Baseball starts in April.

The Nats have to hope Scherzer is 100% for opening day.

The Nats cannot put Scherzer on the mound until he is fully healed. Good thinking.
