I find that food is one of the most popular discussions here. I am the type of person who likes to plan ahead. We need to be able to eat Sunday lunch fairly easily and so I thought about it last night.
Today, Sunday, for lunch, we will have chicken salad sandwiches, and quite likely a fruit smoothie along side of them.
We can have regular bread, flour tortillas, or sandwich flats. I will probably choose the latter. It makes a sandwich with half as many carbs.
I am not certain about the rest of the day or week, but I am thinking hard. We will see what I can come up with.

It was quite good. The weather is warm and sunny so it was time to think of those kinds of foods.

Sounds so delicious Heather.
Our diet here is quite boring mostly the same thing everyday with possibly a change of meats.

It is easy to get in a rut, which is where I felt I was. I even did olives in the chicken salad instead of dill pickle, just cause hubby likes them.

I decided to order Taco bell. I ordered a vegetarian power bowl. It has 460 calories but fills me up. It is the only thing I have ate today. I may snack later but not have anything big. I normally get the 7 layer burrito with 430 calories. But it doesn't fill me up.

@rusty2rusty My doctor says "Everything in moderation" but I can get up and get around better than you can. I certainly can tell the difference when I make bad choices.I am cross and sad all rolled into one.

I have not been there in a while. Around 400 calories is good. I do not count calories, but I do watch my refined carbs.

I like zucchini. I do best with eggs for breakfast most days. I will eat oatmeal from time to time or granola.

We make a menu at the end of each week then buy groceries the next morning. It makes life tons easier. I also make whole grain bread each week. I need to do that tomorrow for sure. Carbs are the building blocks of energy- IF a person eats the whole grain kind.

The sandwich flats are whole grain, and so they are the healthier carbs. I do what I can to limit the empty carbs but still get enough of the healthy ones.

@sallypup I filled it up with lots of chicken salad. Oh, then the smoothie with homemade yogurt and unsweetened fruit.

I know Patsie, that is so very important, and sometimes I am just a big old fail at eating right.

@GardenGerty I haven't had any white floured bread products in years, but there is a full service grocery store that carries fresh baked whole wheat and 12 grain croissants.

it sounds good to me... I like to plan to, but today no planning, we just ate hamburgers. It was a busy day, things going wrong, so had something simple.

If hubby makes burgers he leaves a mess, so it is simpler not to have them often. I know that there are days when I would like to just go out for a burger. Where we live, though, it is twenty to thirty minutes to a fast food place.

@GardenGerty , I have to be honest there was a mess to clean here, but didn't cost anything to go out so a good thing.
That is a long way to travel to get food, that is too bad it is so far.

At the food bank this week, I came home with some veggie tortillas, which I love. So for breakfast today, I cooked up some bacon and eggs and ate them in one of the tortillas that I'd heated up. It was so delicious and filling and so simple. I love when a plan comes together!
