Making a Baby Blanket

Well my mom asked me to crochet two baby blankets. One for my brother's baby who will be born within the next few weeks and one for a lady at her church who I think is having a baby or a grandchild. Not sure since I don't know the woman. I found a really cute and really easy pattern for a chevron baby blanket and it is coming out so cute. Looks like it will take quite a bit of yarn but it will not be anywhere near as much as it takes to make a regular sized blanket. I am going to have to buy more yarn in order to have the colors for the woman's baby blanket. Anyone else want a baby blanket lol? What do you think of handmade baby blankets?
