It’s that time of year again, when almost everyone in the USA is working on filing their taxes. It should be a simple matter of filling out the forms, “should be.”
Think about this though. The Gettysburg Address has just over 260 words. The Declaration of Independence has about 1,330 words. The Bible has some 773,000 words and how many persons do you think has read the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation?
Now, here is the craziest thing you will probably read today. The U.S. Tax Code has over SEVEN MILLION words. Now, how many people do you think has read the entire tax code?
Give us a break! How in the world can there be that many words to read to be able to file your taxes correctly???
What do you think about that?

That is a lot of words.. I wonder who has read all that? I have no idea how many words there is in the Swedish Tax Code, but am happy that a professional guy is filling my forms, as he knows how they should be done.. I have a little business, and I want him to help, so that it is correct. One day I might even earn with this business..??

I always did my own taxes and helped my brother do his also. We never got audited and rightly so, because we didn't cheat on our taxes. I don't have to file anymore, now that I'm retired and so is he.

The tax system in this country needs to be scrapped, and the IRS abolished. (Actually, personal income tax is unconstitutional anyway.) They need a much simpler fair tax system, with no loopholes. I suspect most of the tax code is made up of loopholes for rich people to get out of paying taxes.

Yes, the entire tax system needs to be simplified, but I don't expect that to happen any time soon.

Someone running for office a few years back said our taxes should be able to be filed on the back of a post card. I agree. But understand that making taxes that simple would put a lot of bureaucrats out of work, so it isn't going to happen.

No, it's not going to happen. But, I think that taxes should depend on two things. Income and number of dependents. Period.
