Another Bird's Nest

I saw this one in some of the brush and thought it looked pretty cool, though I'm not sure what kind of bird made it. I tried to see if there were any eggs in it. But, when I approached it, I realized it was a little too high off the ground (I was standing on a hill when I took the photo) and there was no way of checking without disturbing it. So, I just left it alone.

Sometimes it upsets the birds if you start inspecting their nests. You've captured a good photo.

That's why I made sure to keep a reasonable distance from it.

@JudyEv As a rule, I try to avoid doing anything that will disturb the critters I'm photographing. That's why I'm glad my wife bought me a camera that lets me zoom in from quite a ways away. This nest was low enough off the ground where, from a distance at least, I thought I could walk within a reasonable distance of it and either stand on my toes to see inside or hold my camera up above my head and get a photo of the inside. As it turns out, neither was the case. It was higher up than it looked and, once I realized that, I walked away.

@srhelmer I didn't mean to sound critical. I'm always keen to see if there are eggs in a nest too but I rarely see nests here - not ones I can look into anyway. :)

That is a deep almost tubelike nest.

There were some nuthatches flying around and I thought maybe it belonged to them. But, they apparently build their nests inside holes.
