Big Hands

My Mom was a big-boned woman and had gigantic hands. As a kid she could encompass your entire face and lift you off the floor with one hand. That was her motion to tell you to "Shut Up!" My Dad taught me to give a 'firm' handshake and look people in the eyes when you do it. I hate a 'whimpy' handshake from someone. Most men start out shaking my hand with that 'whimpy' style until they realize their hand is about to be crushed; then their clasp becomes much more firm and you can see the surprise in their eyes. My left hand from the base of the palm to the tip of the middle finger is 7 1/2" long and the palm from side to side is 3 1/4" wide. The right hand is the same length but 3 1/2" wide (because I'm right-handed). Just my middle finger is 3 1/8" long; so if you're ever out driving and you cut me off, you'll be able to see it.

@nanette64 It can also hurt! I remember years ago someone gave me such a strong handshake that my ring cut my finger. I was not happy.

I've been told I have dainty hands, but most are surprised when I don't have a wimpy handshake.

I can see where having dainty hands would throw people off @cindiowens . Dont'cha just love the surprised look on their face when you give them 'the grip'?

i think my hands are proportionate to my height, but i've been told my feet look small. on the other hand, i've had an officemate who was petite and thin and i was surprised that our hands and feet are the same size.

I too am a woman afflicted with "man hands". Manicurists love my big nails. In 9th grade I took a picture and couldn't figure out why I was holding a brown paper bag in the pic. My Mom said, "Sweetie, it's not a bag. It's your hand."

Now that's a good one @sherryericha . The only draw-back to our hands is getting them into small places and spaces.

Wow! No kidding. Your mom sounds like someone you wouldn't want to have angry at you
