Obama Care lives for now

But, only because the Republican House of Reps could not agree. The ultra-right Freedom Caucus wanted all benefits for lower income Americans stripped from the bill and more moderate Reps could not live with that. I can't imagine those factions ever agreeing on this matter and frankly, I am glad to see Paul Ryan and Donald Trump suffer this defeat so early in the year. The biggest aspect of this bill was an extremely big tax cut for the wealthy. This defeat signals big problems for the new administration and their (in my opinion) far to conservative agenda.

I doubt they will ever agree either. I think that all that has been done since Trump took office is play around and nothing has been accomplished. Nothing.

There are so many bad things he wants to do that I hope he can accomplish nothing, (such as a 30 foot high wall.)

No more screwing over poor people. At least for now. They'll find another way, though.

Yes because those caught in the middle pay for the ones who continue to be able to SCAM all because say you're depressed, make all you want, and here's your free meds, money, etc. You never have to get a job. We Love you being LAZY

I just read this in another discussion. It is a great news for people needing Obamacare, I just hope that he will not try to make it disappear again, as he is unable to move. For the moment, champagne for everybody, starting by serving the Republicans who refused to kill Obamacare.

The moderate wing of the GOP won the day by refusing to buckle under to Ryan and Trump.

@JamesHxstatic and he is trying to blame the Democrats. Sadly, his supporters will fall for that line.

If they do away with ObamaCare - there must be something in it's place... I've never been too sure what they aim to replace it with....

They wanted to pass a bill that would have given a big tax break to wealty people and left millions of Americans with no coverage. Even most of their own party could not support it, so no vote, no win. A very good thing.

@FayeHazel I am hoping he fails at many of his grandiose ideas like that 30 foot wall. We need to fix some bridges and highways first.

@JamesHxstatic Big tax break for the wealthy. Sounds typical. However Trump did say that was his plan in one of the debates. At least he admitted it. Those who least need it get the biggest breaks so it seems.

Yep ... Make over $40,000 a yr. here's your Free medical, medications, etc. Make $20-$25,000 a month and you make too much. On SSD you make too much so you have to pay high premiums to see a Doctor, etc. So unless you are really Poor at least here in WA state you either pay out your nose to see Doctors etc. or figure out ways when you are making a decent amount over Minimum wage to get help. I know people even making over $5000 a month getting Free help. These are the people screwing over the Health care system already to where a lot of Low income have to do without. Especially once you become homeless. So overall the only ones Happy are those who can afford to see a Doctor and their medications.

@JamesHxstatic No for those caught in the middle we make too much at like $25,000 a yr and I am disabled and cannot work so have to sell online. But if we were making over $40,000 and I was on SSI instead of SSD and had a son who was 13 who almost don't know how to say his ABC's and 5+5=20 then I love what we can offer the higher income. Just no matter what the Elderly continue to suffer, the military have suffered more, and this is OK if you are Depressed but know how to SCAM?

It was that way before the Affordable Care Act and worse. The insurance companies are at fault for the failure of health care in this country. Trump/Ryan care would have put big bucks in the pockets of the wealthy and left millions of people with no coverage at all.

I am, personally, prob would be considered far left. Even so, it seems to me that Far Left and Far Right aren't the best options, when it comes to something that everyone can live with. That there is just going to have to be a middle.

I heard yesterday the GOP is in conference once again to repeal O-care. BAH. Why on earth have they declared war on the frail, the elderly, the ...you name it? What is their ultimate goal? Will other countries accept American refugees....?

I wonder if any of the people who voted for him are feeling "buyer's remorse". I can't believe so many in this country are so harsh. I hope the mid-term elections send enough moderates from either side to mitigate some of the policies the current D.C. crowd are trying to pass. Remember, the travel ban has been put on permanent hold by the courts, too, so that's somewhat of a defeat. Even though I get a good-sized portion of politics when I'm on Twitter, I can hardly watch tv anymore because of the politics.

@JamesHxstatic - I am sure there will be more problems ahead, but I was glad to see this defeat, as well. The TrumpCare plan was modified to the point where insurance was no longer going to have to cover hospitalization, lab tests, emergency care, maternity care, prescriptions, mental health care, addiction care or ambulances. With all those services removed from insurance, what is the point of insurance?

I am so happy this bill didn't pass. I'm glad to know that some GOP do have a heart. It was a terrible plan. The current health care isn't the best but by far better than what Trump wanted.

That is a fact. The ACA needs some changes but to leave millions with no coverage was a heartless plan to give huge tax breaks to the rich.
