Sentimentalist Am I

It's about tenderness, sadness, or nostalgia usually in an exaggerated and self-indulgent way. Perhaps, and whatever works to get those feelings out. But, for me, I am sentimental about vintage movies, some tv series, and some people. It's a yearning to revisit and enjoy the better moments in decades past. It's a need to see those scenes that were so touching and are so well remembered. Like the ghost in the first season episode five of Angel. Cordela is scared of a ghost that is haunting her dream apartment. Crying crocodile tears on the floor. Scared until the old bitty ghost calls her a 'b!tch'. That put Cordelia back in place. Love it! Or the scene in The Bishop's Wife when the wine is enchanted by Cary Grant's character, Dudley, and they all get jolly. Or, the scene in Harvey when James' Stewart's character introduces his invisible friend, Harvey, to the visiting upper crust of the community. Or, the scene in To Kill A Mockingbird when the black women directs Scout to get up "Your papa's passing!"
I could go on and on. So many movies. So many scenes. So much sentimentality and emotion. Truth, respect, magic, strength and yes, drama. A few minutes to leave the reality of horror in the news, blood on the streets and the unorthodox adventures on capitol hill. How do you leave reality behind? Exercise, movies, work? Do you have a favorite scene from a movie?

Oh, yes, and that staircase was so magnificent. Not sure I am familiar with the other one you mentioned.

I sure remember scenes from the old vintage movies. They strike me for some reason. Morals and ethics meant more then I think. Some more contemporary ones too. I love the older ones though. Just watched "The Thin Man" again with William Powell and Myrna Loy. They were so great together. Did a lot of movies together.

there are moments that for whatever reason capture The Exact Feeling X for us (whatever that feeling is), for me it's more music that does it, but I get what you mean.

I remember the sound track from My Best Friend's Wedding. Enjoy those songs. I'd put it on in the car and groove to it as I drove.
