Are activity trackers really useful?

Lately I have been thinking to get one activity tracker for myself, as you know they are said to be a must-haves if one is trying to lose weight. But, to be very honest, I could not convince myself of the requirement of that band on my hand. Would someone please be kind enough to put some light on how can I actually use it to help me lose weight. And the band that I have been planning to buy is Mifit band 2.

I like mine simple because it tracks everything I do. It gives me rewards/badges whenever I reach a goal. It tracks my sleep and everything else. Also, sends me a weekly progress report. I get to see what days I did the best on and shows me if I did more or less than the week before. It mostly makes it feel like a competition with myself each week and each day. It also has daily challenges I can enter with my friends and other challenges to do. Also, offers personal trainers if you download the other app that comes with it and they do a fitness test at the start of it to assess where you are and make a workout plan for you. I enjoy mine since I have gotten it. It has helped me lose a few pounds a keep them off.

Yeah I have got mine too after much thought. It does the same work as yours. And it has helped me walk more and indulge in more activities.
