A Change in My Life

My prayer life that is. Twelve days ago I found a wonderful book on prayer. I've been searching for a book like this for many years. I didn't want a book with prayers in it, but I wanted a book that would teach me how to pray effectively.
Our Lord Jesus was asked, Teach us to pray. I've been asking that question for almost 37 years, since I became a Born Again Christian. I finally found the book that is transforming my life.
My problem with the book is that I want to read it non-stop cover to cover. The suggested method to reading this book is a chapter a day, which is very wise of the authors to suggest it. Once the chapter is read, the rest of the day the mind mulls over what it read, preparing you for the next chapter.
What is the name of this great book - The Battle Plan for Prayer by Stephen and Alex Kendrick. They also produced the movie War Room for which the book is taken after.
My prayer life has taken on a whole new dimension as I'm learning how to pray, not just praying randomly, but effectively.
One thing I've wanted to do for a long time was to host a small group for church. My problem was in not knowing what topic I would present. That is no longer a problem. I know what it would be - Prayer. I talked to the Associate Pastor yesterday about doing just that, and he was open to it for next fall. It's good it's next fall as it will give me time to finish this book and get the necessary materials to do a good group study on it.
My passion has always been prayer. Now I'm learning how to pray effectively. I'm also starting to see answers to the prayers I pray. I'm excited with the new change in my life, and if any of you want to know how to pray effectively, I highly recommend this book. It will change your life.
The picture is mine of the book. Thanks for reading.

Praying effectively is definitely the goal. Nice to find a guide of sorts in doing that.

It is interesting how Jesus answered the disciple that inquired on how to pray!
Luke 11:1-4 King James Version (KJV)
11 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

When you pray according to God's will, he will hear and answer. We've been told there are three answers to prayer - yes, no, and not now. This book shows there are five answers - Yes immediately, Yes in due time, Yes so you'll learn from it, No because your heart's not right, and No I've got a better plan.
I have learned so much about the power of effective prayer. Every day is a new facet in this learning journey.
Joyce Meyer is an excellent teacher. I am sure you will find some precious thoughts in it as well on how to pray effectively.

I'm happy that you've found helpful advice through the book... prayer is important. I know I have come to realize that I have no issues asking God for what I want, but I seem to have trouble remembering to thank Him for what I have already. I must be more mindful.

Being thankful is very important. Think of it this way and maybe you will remember better - What if you did something for someone else and nobody was thankful for what you did?
