Once again we are having trees cut down. This time it is at our home in Inverness. We took a good look at the trees in the back yard and realized there are some that need to be cut down. With hurricane season coming up in a few months we decided to go ahead and get it done. They were 4 trees that would be a danger if the wind started blowing at a good rate. So, hubby looked around, got some estimates, and they started cutting this morning. For some reason we seem to end up with houses that have old and unstable trees. I hate to spend the money but in the end if they fell on the house it would cost us a whole lot more. At least our house will be safe from the trees. We will be replacing the trees that are being cut with others but we don't know what kind yet. Maybe some fruit trees would be nice.

I would love to have a grapefruit, orange, and tangerine tree.

I lost a lot of shade but it was so worth it to not have to worry.

I was about to condemn you for cutting down trees and contributing to global warming, but you went and redeemed yourself by clarifying that you will plant new trees in the place of the ones you cut down. Kudos to you! Hope you pick out some nice ones!

@HazySue I am lucky that I work for an organization that helps plant thousands of new trees every year! In fact, we are currently working with the Nature Conservancy and the Trust for Public Land to help plant 10,000 pine saplings in a reforestation effort. Every tree makes a difference!

When we cut down a tree we always rep0lace it with another tree. Global warming effects us all, I can condemn someone else for contributing to it if I do. I am looking forward to going shopping for our fruit trees this weekend.

@moffittjc it's a wonderful type of organization to belong to. My feeling is, if you get rid of a tree, you need to put another one in the ground. We all need to be responsible.
