Marvel comic book sales slump is due to "Diversity'?

I have been a comic book fan since I was living in the former Canal Zone in the Republic of Panama from 1961-1978. The comic books that I read were Justice League Of America, Superman, Action Comics, Detective Comics and some of the Marvel comic books characters who were on cartoon television at that time. Now with the price of comic books around $4 and the challenges of the success of the Marvel comic book characters in the movies, the powers that be at Marvel are saying "Diversity" is slowing down their comic book sales. Gee whiz Marvel Comics you cannot win them all, come on you should have the roster of your comic books alone and not have minority characters of the replacements heroes of Spider Man, Captain America, Thor and others. I mean if the Isthmus Sisters who are Hispanic aliens from Lexicon and their close family friend Panama Squirrel who is also an alien from Lexicon but of Hispanic ancestry, they would be able to sell their stories to adults but maybe kids today. I could just see the powers that be at Marvel saying "Isthmus Sisters? Panama Squirrel? Aliens from Lexicon? A parody of our roster of super heroes? Is the water safe to drink in Panama?" Answer to Marvel from my original characters would be to them "Why do you think we moved to Fair City to assist Wordgirl and Captain Huggyface? A political revolution?"

I'd say it's because they have enough Marvel movies out now that instead of just reading the comics, they can watch the movies.

The Marvel movies have been successful since they are a new deal recently. Comic books are expensive these days.

@Deepizzaguy My brother used to have hundreds of comics when we were growing up. Of course, they weren't $4 each!

@OneOfMany I read comic books as hand me downs from my relatives in the former Canal Zone in Panama until my relatives and myself moved to Louisiana in 1978.
