Scissors have multiple uses

Writing about free haircuts reminded me of when we lived in Ravensthorpe, Western Australia, in the 1970s. I thought of it as a Wild West town. It was very isolated, very small and short on many facilities and services.
One of the trades that weren't represented was hair-dressing so many people would have wild and woolly hairdos until they were able to get to a bigger town several hours' drive away.
However there was one woman who would cut men's hair. The appointment would be made in the pub (hotel). You turned up at the appointed time with a bottle of beer for her as payment and one of your own, both of which you drank during said haircut.
Vince went there once or twice but was a bit put-off when one time she couldn't find the scissors and ending up screaming at the top of her voice 'Have you kids been cutting the cat's hair again with my scissors?'
The photo is of our cat Blue saying his prayers.

I helped someone create some kind of order to their hair after they had tried to cut it themselves....it wasn't horrible....but then I don't claim to be a hairdresser.

@JudyEv I've actually cut my own hair a few times when I was desperate had no money or time to go to the hairdresser. I gave one of my daughters an emergency haircut before school once. There's probably a discussion subject in that....

@Morleyhunt I think I remember that. She had a go at it herself didn't she? Or was that the grand-daughter?

It doesn't look like rocket science does it? Cutting hair? But there is a bit more to it than meets the eye!

There were some wonderful characters in that town. It's modernised itself a bit now more's the pity.

My Dad used to cut my hair when I was little. He used razor more than a scissor.

@diosabella We used to talk about 'basin cuts' where the mother would put a basin on the kid's head and cut round the edges.

@JudyEv My dad has no imagination when he was cutting my hair but I remember that my hair was so straight all the time those days.
