How Old Is Too Old?

I just finished watching a segment of Dr. Phil about overprotecting parenting. It certainly raised a few questions in my mind. One of the questions that it raised for me was "how old is too old to breast feed your child"? Of course I am talking about the age of the child. I have always thought it was pretty much up to the parent. However, my feelings are if the child's old enough to tell you he/she want's to breastfeed then it's way past time to stop. I could be wrong but it seems to me that breastfeeding generally stops at a year or lease. What do you think? Am I way out of line? By the way, this was about a mother still breastfeeding her four year old son.

You don't want to hear my thoughts on this - I've never been a mother so I think differently.

@HazySue I think a few months is enough.

@AbbyGreenhill The thumb rule here is no more than 6 months.

In my opinion 6 months is a limit, European doctors suggest 6 months and then stop.

I am of the same belief. My girls are all in their 30's and I still felt that way when they were babies.
