I Need Tax Day Poster Ideas

On Saturday, April 15, 2017, Tax Day demonstrations will be held across the U.S. I plan to attend one in Laguna Beach and I want to make a poster and take it with me. The problem is that I cannot decide what to put on my poster.
The photo above shows one idea.
Other ideas include simple statements such as:
I Pay More Taxes than Donald Trump
(since apparently he did not pay income taxes many years)
Trump: Show Us Your Tax Returns
Spend my tax money on education, science, healthcare, the arts, and the Park Service ... not more weapons of war.
What do my friends on MyLot think? Which idea do you like, or do you have other suggestions?

@jaboUK - Yes, I do like the "Trump: Show Us Your Tax Returns." I think the public deserves to know his stock holdings and how much of his income comes from foreign governments.

I'll be hiking in the Smokies that day. I don't fret what I can't control. As Billy Joel once sang, "I found that just surviving is a noble fight."

@jstory07 - That's an interesting slogan. I think the government thinks that the citizens are its business. LOL

@DeborahDiane Congress does not want to simplify the tax code or get away from an income tax because they use it for social engineering, rewarding some behaviors and investments while punishing others. They could not do this with a VAT or NST.

@DWDavis - A lot of people prefer either a flat income tax, a value added tax and/or a national sales tax because those ideas are more proportionate. The more you earn and spend, the more you pay. No excessive deductions, except reasonable business deductions for actual expenses. No unlimited carryovers for losses. I wonder why Congress has been so slow to make reasonable changes to the tax code. Oh, I get it. It is because so many of them are wealthy and they do not want to pay taxes on everything they earn and spend. They would rather poor people supplement their income.

Trump had carryover losses from a business deal gone bad that he was able to deduct, perfectly legally, over several years until the losses had been offset. Since then he's actually paid several million dollars a year in taxes. If you want to protest against someone who hasn't paid taxes, protest against Al Sharpton. He owes several million dollars in taxes, interest, and penalties, and would probably be in jail for tax evasion if he wasn't who he is.
Don't get me wrong. I am not a Trump fan. But if you're going to protest him, protest over something factual. Perhaps ask if he's withholding his returns because they show he owes Russian banks hundreds of millions of dollars for his overseas projects.

@DeborahDiane Most big money people like Trump have their returns audited at some level nearly every year. I think the Exalted Orange One is obfuscating though, when he says he can't release them because the returns are under audit. They are not like evidence in a criminal trial. The IRS wouldn't care one way or the other if he did or didn't release them. It is his own attorneys and advisors telling him not to, because of exactly what you suspect.

@DWDavis - I agree with your analysis completely. I also believe his tax returns will reveal a few things which could cause his popularity to drop even more.

@DWDavis - I agree that, as far as we know, his deductions were perfectly legal ... although there could be some issues, since he has been under IRS audit for a very long time. The biggest problem I have with Trump is his refusal to reveal his tax returns so the public can see where his assets are invested, what companies and foreign countries could have influence over him because he earns income from them or because he has borrowed large sums of money from them. So, perhaps, I should use the slogan "Trump: Show Us Your Tax Returns." I think tax experts could learn a lot from them. If there are no problems, then I would accept that, too.

@DianneN - Oh! I really like that! I do believe he is wasting a lot of taxpayer dollars because he and Melania are spending so much time in New York and Palm Beach. Their presence in those places is also disruptive. We have a family friend who owns a condo across the street from Trump Tower and she says that getting around that area is much more difficult than in the past ... and she also resents having her taxpayer money in New York going to protect Melania.

@DeborahDiane He's a real drip! He is costing everyone a ton of money, and what irks me, among many other things, is that he isn't paying one red cent!

@DianneN - He seems totally unaware of how much he is costing and inconveniencing the people around him. He lives in a bubble ... an uncaring, narcissistic bubble.

I like the third one down that says I pay more taxes than Trump! Why do you need a poster though, is it a requirment?

The problem with putting that on a poster is that Trump paid more in taxes than Obama, Clinton and Sanders combined most years once his carryover losses were offset. The left is relying on the fact that most Americans understand very little about the tax code so no one will question the veracity of their claim about him not paying taxes.

No, it isn't a requirement. I could just go and hang out, but I thought a poster would be fun.

@DWDavis - Good point. That was not my favorite poster idea, anyway. I kind of like listing the ways I would prefer my tax money to be used. No one can fault me for having my preferences. I suppose everyone does.

I agree 150 percent. No more wars, no one profits except the rich and really only reason we stay at war if you think about it. Human travesty of all the deaths of women and children is nothing in their eyes. They want the money or resources that lead to money. Which then leads to more world power.

@crossbones27 - I have always believed that most wars are fought over greed and power. People sometimes blame religion, but it is often only the leaders who use religion to gain more money and power. The poor and weak are the ones who pay.

@mom210 - Yes, I would love for there to be a fair tax that is more equitable and makes it impossible for the wealthy to use write-offs to avoid paying taxes.
