Anthony Is Coming Home in June!

My son Anthony is 23 and in the Army. He is currently stationed at Ft. Wainwright in Alaska. He notified us last week via Facebook, that he is coming home for a visit in June. We are all very happy that he is coming home. I do hope that his wife Shelby will be able to get off of work in order to join him. The last time he was home they told us that they would not be visiting us for a while due to the cost of flying. Then I found out that they were planning on taking a trip to Hawaii. I did not mind. If I were stationed in Alaska, I would jet set to Hawaii as well! Now I am uncertain as to why they changed their minds but I will be happy to see them.

@Happy2BMe he was here last year for a bit right before heading to Alaska. He was stationed at Ft. Hood in Texas and when he found out he was going to Alaska they came to visit us before leaving on their trek to Alaska. They took their time and drove to Alaska via Canada.

@Happy2BeMe It was a nice drive. They were able to stop at several national parks and hike with the pups. They enjoyed it.

@shaggin I hope that he was able to get a good deal. I am very happy. I think I would love to visit Alaska but I don't think I would want to live there.

@shaggin I would love to visit and go salmon fishing. Anthony says that the laws are super strict for hunting and fishing.

@SIMPLYD I will take the opportunity as often as I can to see them. I am glad that he is coming and I hope he can bring my daughter-in-law as well.

Well, to each his own @Shellyann36 I've noticed a lot of couples aren't having kids these days, one gal told me it was because she had diabetes and didn't want to have kids that would get it. Kinda made sense to me.

@rebelann I am so glad that they don't want children. Neither of them is child-friendly. Of course, they don't mind playing with kids for a certain amount of time but when they are tired of, they can get up and walk away. They do love those crazy dogs they have though.

@dodo19 He is the only one that is far away. I am just glad that he is still stationed here stateside instead of in some war-torn country.

i am kind of confused but i guess you mean they will visit after Hawaii? glad he is coming home. maybe you live in Hawaii?

@bunnybon7 Sorry for the confusion. They were going to skip coming to see us because the airfare was way too expensive. They were going to go on vacation to Hawaii instead. Now the tables have turned and they or at least he is coming here.

Traveling to Hawaii might be cheaper for them, but the cost of living there is much higher. Maybe they're all homesick to see the family instead. Does her family live around you too or in a different state? It will be nice to see him again.
My daughter moved with her boyfriend two and a half hours away to the west side of the state, but she's decided to move back home after being out of the house for four years. Her boyfriend gets depressed and is hard to live with and she gets too stressed out when he's like that. When she lived in town it was easier as she could spend time with us or her sister, but on the other side of the state she doesn't have other friends or family to hang out with.
Now I have more cleaning to do that I anticipated since we've taken over her room with our paperwork for the business.

@MarshaMusselman for them to travel to Hawaii from Alaska is much cheaper (from what I have been told). I do hope that he is not coming here because he is being sent somewhere across the pond. 
I hate to hear that your daughter is having such a hard time. Perhaps her boyfriend will get some professional help and they can work things out. I know she will be happy to be home with you though.

@PainsOnSlate thank you. We are going to enjoy it very much. I am worried that he may get sent somewhere across the pond. That could be why he is coming home instead of the Hawaiian vacation. He had to go to a desert training school for 3 months in California and he just got back to Alaska in March from that training. The timing and training are all too suspicious to me. I am going to be a strong mother though.
