“Tie your hair, please?”

As what I commented in some discussions, I left at 2 PM to get the money from a remittance center and pay our phone bills. The remittance center was just a stone’s throw away from the phone company, so after I got a number from the security guard, I walked to the remittance center.
It took me 45 minutes for the transaction. I was even offered an insurance card and P600.00 was the amount for that. I declined and told the male employee that the money is for the dead mother of my colleague. He stopped pushing me for the insurance.
Another 20 minutes to pay our telephone bills, so it was quick. Then I went to a drugstore to buy a roll-on deodorant for my son.
I then walked to the parking area of our locality. I stayed behind the tricycle driver, and then a lady with long, curly, blond hair sat between me and the driver. Off we went.
It sure was windy, so the hair of this young lady was flying into my face. I softly told her, “lady, please hold or tie your hair; it is going to my face” (Hija, pwede bang hawakan o talian mo buhok mo, pumupunta na sa mukha ko). She just held her hair to her right.
I was patient in holding my ire and disgust to her. Then suddenly, her hair went wild again, and some strands even entered my mouth (I was eating peanuts). I said in a loud voice, “lady, please hold your hair. Why don’t you tie it? You are not the only passenger”. (Hija, hawakan mo buhok mo. Bakit ayaw mong talian? Hindi lang ikaw ang pasahero) She continued chewing gum with her head held up high (a distinct sign of a braggart).
When the tricycle alighted in front of our gate, I took a closer and sharp look at this IMPOLITE lady, and said in a loud voice, “You are disrespectful” (bastos ka). She nary said a word, her head still up high.
How do you deal with this kind of behavior from a disrespectful person younger than you?

@ridingbet oh, i wasn't alluding to how you eat. i seldom ride at the back, and when i do, i'm preoccupied with not falling off, so my hands aren't free to do anything else.

@hereandthere oh, i see. i really misunderstood what you meant. my apologies.
well, one thing that i must not do when i ride at the back of the driver, is texting, because my attention might be on texting and not keeping myself secure from fall.

my friend, i chew the peanuts with mouth closed. i don't chew with mouth ajar, or chew loud. but the hair of this lady was so long that strands come into my face and in my mouth, that i wanted to spit at that strand of hair.

@ridingbet I am sorry, unfortunately there is not a lot we could do here, because sometimes young people have no good manner, but if you say something they become aggressive.

@LadyDuck that is true, and i agree with you. i think the parents of the youth now, are also not into teaching their kids about good manners and right conduct. so disheartening that some children go the the wrong path

O, yeah, I did encounter bad people of all ages like that lady back in the Philippines. I just did not say anything . . just kept my cool for a while . . but killed them later to express my extreme anger. Just kidding!
. . . Imbag ta dimo pinongot, kabsat! (Good you did not pull her hair, sis!)

That would be an awkward situation. I would have been mortified if my hair was blowing in someone's face.

sadly being embarrassed or ashamed when you're out in public seems rare now

I don't know what to say in this situation. But from your post I could have easily got mad at this girl. We don't know how she was raised, or maybe she's just ignoring your scolding to avoid feeling embarrassed. Kids these days mostly lack disciplined. I bet no one told her how to tie her hair and let it spread like she doesn't care. Probably cool down and move on. Or better yet just leave the tri if some one else's act like that.

I always have chewing gum with me so I would have quickly chewed up a bunch and held her hair back with chewing gum. Good luck getting that out. By the way this thought just came to me, I was had the opportunity to carry out that plan but now I will ensure I always have enough chewing gum just in case. By the way, I never rode such a vehicle, won't be nice to see a photo if you have one.

if i take a picture of me behind a tricycle driver, i will post it here, my friend.
i cannot chew gum because i might ingest air and it may cause me bloating. hahahaha!

if it was possible, my friend, but the inside of the tricycle was already filled with 3 passengers. i rode at the back, and this IMPOLITE lady stayed between me and the driver.

Wow, you were fully justified in asking her to remove her hair from your face. I would have a hard time keeping my temper.

@FayeHazel hahaha! that is funny. but i do not like to create animosity because i do not know, maybe this lady has a criminal relative? and he might end my life? hahaha! my weird thoughts.

i can still hold my patience in that manner, but when i am very bad, i can just pull her hair away from my face, and that is PULLING!!! haha
