Pelion upon Ossa

April 10, 2017 My left foot and knee have been bothering me lately and I'm tired of dealing with it. First it was plantar fasciitis. Then, for a couple of weeks, the plantar fasciitis was replaced with extensor tendonitis. Then, after staying pretty much off my feet for three or four days, I spent a few minutes picking up a tiny bit of the massive amount of tree debris covering my miniscule back yard (the result of our recent windstorm), and my knee ached for the rest of the day, in addition to the extensor tendonitis. This morning, the knee is okay, the extensor tendonitis has faded a bit, and the plantar fasciitis is back. I used a scooter at the grocery store today and it was absolutely wonderful to know that I wouldn't be heaping Pelion upon Ossa (see link below). I think I would like having a motorized wheelchair for shopping, and for excursions downtown which I can no longer enjoy because of this ornery left foot and its partner in crime, the left knee. Not sure I could manage a non-motorized wheelchair because of old rotator cuff injuries. Bah. http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/heaping+Pelion+upon+Ossa

@blitzfrick I have hurt my shoulder a couple of years ago and my knee last year. When I work too much, I feel the pain.

@LadyDuck Do you think our bodies are trying to tell us something?

This is how it is with me too, Anna. A day of work results in aches and pains then a couple of days later it's better. Until these foot problems. They are quite stubborn. I believe they will eventually be faded memories, though.

As someone who is also suffering from plantar fasciitis I, quite literally, feel your pain.

@blitzfrick I've just accepted pain from some body part or other as an occupational hazard these days. The occupation being ageing! I don't help myself though. I still carry on playing football and going to the gym etc. Things usually sort themselves out after a month or two!!

@WorDazza Me too, on the accepting part. Although I do complain about it more these days, and it has slowed me down quite a bit. But then, I'm 73yrs old, so I guess I'm comparatively okay. Could be better, but could be much much worse.

I love that wheel chair. I can just see you in a hot rod scooter. Sometimes you just need to have fun and not pay for it with pain. I know about that nasty plantar fascitis.

My sister and I used to plan on going to the same nursing home when we got old and having wheelchair races up and down the halls.

@blitzfrick I know right. I can't stand up straight. I have to slowly get up. And I want to start running again. :( I hope you will feel better too.
