I have been WANTING to get a bicycle for several years but I always have an excuse not to...
I am trying to get away from that and buy myself a bicycle. I'm going to be looking into one that is no more than $150.00 and has sturdy wheels... It'd be primarily used for exercising / exploring through the neighborhoods surrounding me...
What brand of bikes have you had or bought for others? Are there any must have accessories for a person intending to use the bike for exercise reasonings, with the possibility of a little bit of "off road" cycling? is $150 too high or too low to pay?
Any Idea?

It may be hard to find a Schwinn for $150 unless you find a deal on a used one.
Do you want a bicycle with a lot of gears? Is your area mostly flat or are there lots of hills?
The second hand shops and local yard-sale sites might be a good starting place in your search.

There are a lot of bike shops in my County...
I live in the Triad... but in a generally flat area.

I don't own any bikes. I'd like one though :)
My mother in law has a Jeep bike.

@infatuatedbby Oh okay... I had to look up a picture of it. I have seen those before... I would think they'd be a little uncomfortable to ride.

I do not have any idea which brands are available at your place. I have an exercise bicycle. I had bought it few years ago around $150. It has a meter, which shows time, speed and heart beat and I enjoy using it.

@ScribbledAdNauseum You could go for moving bikes, as per your pocket.

Yes, but I don't want what we call "stationary bikes". I want something that I can move around in.

Two years ago I bought myself and my husband both bicycles. The first summer I used it a little, but spent so much time running around for my parents I had little time to use it. The second summer is again saw little use....I was tied down with my elderly father. This year I plan to ride much more.

I hope you will have plenty of time to ride and plenty of good weather to ride in as well.

Try to find a local bike shop that also sells used bikes. You might be able to find a good deal. Just make sure the bike fits properly, or you won't ride it. I'd say a helmet is a must, followed by gloves.

Yes, I was definitely going to be getting a helmet but hadn't thought of gloves...

@ScribbledAdNauseum - They are padded and help lessen the shock on your hands and wrists. Makes the ride more comfortable.
