What are you having for lunch today?

I just got back from an IEP meeting for one of my kid clients. When I stumbled in my front door, I realized I was really hungry. Searching my fridge, I found 1/3 of a burrito that I'd saved from yesterday's lunch with a friend/colleague. I put a slice of avocado on it, then a slice of Brie, and popped it in the oven. It should be ready in about ten minutes. Used burritos aren't particularly attractive to look at, so I'll attach a photo of one of my "default" lunches for when I'm NOT really hungry. Can you tell what it is? Anyway, what's on your lunch menu for today?

Guacamole ? Looks like something in which The Creature from the Black Lagoon might be resident... I had sliced egg and cucumber on white bread, with some chilli mayo, and a cup of potato and onion soup. That was 8 hours ago.

@TheHorse The soup, yes, it was a hearty potage, certainly.

Oohh. Potato and onion soup sounds good! Yes, my creamed spinach does kind of look like a creature might emerge at any moment.

I have no idea what that is, it looks disgusting. I don't know what's for lunch today but I'm getting hungry. I'm in a monetary desert right now so it will probably be Ramen noodles. Thinking that's way too much salt so maybe a peanut butter sandwich--way too much fat and calories..hmm, mac 'n cheese? I'll be hungry in an hour. I'll figure out something. Or keep looking at that photo you inserted and lose my appetite!

I at least took guesses at it, @dragon54u! I do agree it looks disgusting, though! Even knowing what is in that plate doesn't make me change my guesses on what it looks like!

Disgusting? How could you say such a thing! You just made me barf all over my keyboard. It's creamed spinach and it's delicious!

I was going to say that photo sure doesn't look like a burrito - unless it's somehow burrito soup of course . What the heck is that? Looks like some green goop with green onions in it. I did a bad thing and grabbed some tacos from a fast food place on the way home from errands - naughty me.

@TheHorse One of my errands this morning was hittin' up TJs. I've never had their creamed spinach . . . but I thought creamed spinach had more white in it? This actually almost looks like ghormeh zabzi . . . a Persian (Iranian) green herb stew eaten with rice - absolutely delicious. Rice goes with everything I think . . . perhaps even green goop .

Mmm. Sometimes one just needs a gut bomb. Oh, it's creamed spinach from Trader Joe's. With a bit of "mystery vegetable" thrown in.

It is! Has the horse settled on "Lean Cuisine" to counter my single malt-induced mini-boiler? Nah, it's just Trader Joe's Indian creamed spinach with a bit of asparagus thrown in.

@TheHorse We occasionally pick up Trader Joe's type dinners when they're on special. We just have them when we're too tired to cook.

@JudyEv I'm often too tired to cook. I'm glad you enjoyed my What I Had For Lunch post. It has done so well! Be sure to read my next post, which will be entitled Plato, Kant, Descartes, and Whitman: Meditations on the Relationship Between Philosophy and Poetry. I expect it to be big winner. @DaddyEvil, @JolietJake, @pgntwo, @JohnRoberts, @LadyDuck, @dragon54u, @Asylum, @CoralLevangand @MALUSE in particular have expressed an interest in that one.

I can't tell what your default lunch is, but like the Brie and avocado. I had two hard boiled eggs for lunch. My husband just this second ordered Italian for dinner. I'm having salad and chicken parm over penne.

I actually REALLY like hard boiled eggs and hardly ever make them for myself. Can you tip the scales in favor of me buying some actual eggs? I'm usually in a rush at breakfast time.
