what to make for dinner

I need an easy meal to throw together. I'm the only one at home with Little Mister today, and he seems to be on a napping strike... so it needs to be fairly simple. I also don't have any meat thawed right now (other than last night's taco meat and a little bit of leftover chicken), but I have ground beef, ground turkey, and breakfast sausage in the freezer which could be thawed quickly.... but I'd prefer using my leftover taco meat and/or the leftover spaghetti sauce in the fridge. I thought about chili, but I'm wondering if taco soup in the slow cooker is a better idea. If I make taco soup, I've got plenty of tortilla chips and sour cream and shredded cheese to serve with it, and I think I even have some avocado that I could dice up. What would you serve on the side with taco soup?

I've never had taco soup. Is it the same as tortilla soup?

It's similar, although tortillas aren't a requirement for taco soup. Taco soup is thicker, while tortilla soup is a thinner broth based soup. Also, tortilla soup is authentically Mexican while taco soup is an American midwestern invention.

@teamfreak16 A search for "taco soup" on Pinterest will bring up tons of recipes. Some with chicken, some with beef, some with ranch dressing mix (!!!), and without... there's a lot of variations.

I've read about doing this, but haven't always pulled it off successfully.

How about some biscuits. That would go good with taco soup.

My daughter can't have wheat and I didn't have stuff on hand for making gluten free biscuits (which are close to an abomination anyway).

Are taco chips different than tortilla chips? It's what people called tortilla chips when I was growing up.

To tell you the truth I have never made or even tasted taco soup. So I don't know at all what to serve on the side.
