Hi Friends, I was supposed to have a dentist appointment this week. I had to cancel my appointment because I didn't have a ride. When have you missed something important or special because you lacked transportation?

If and when that happens, I usually say it is for the best. Years ago, a close friend of mine missed her flight because certain papers she needed were incomplete. She was relieved and further upset after hearing that a terrorist bomb was on the flight. It crashed killing everyone on board.

@Kandase Wow. Yes, I agree, it is usually for the best. What a blessing your friend was not on that flight.

I have been blessed to have a vehicle and the means to drive it nearly all my life. There was one period of a year or so when I had to ride a bike or take the bus and I missed out on a lot of things that way because our bus system here is abysmal. I hope you are not in pain! Our city has a system where you can call for a small bus to get you to appointments or other important things if you are on public assistance or disabled in any way. Doesn't your city have that? Can you afford to take a taxi?

@dragon54u Thank you so much. No, I am not in pain. I usually do take a wheelchair accessible taxi. All of the taxis were broken down.

Isn't there a community association in your town that can help for this need?

@amadeo Nope. I can't drive myself. I have limited use of my hands and I also have vision problems.

I've been there in the past. Hope you can reschedule it and have a ride. Have you tried Lyft or Uber or a taxi?
