Teens keep stealing our mangoes

A bunch of teens who we do not know keep stealing our mangoes when we are asleep...when they think we are asleep it is really frustrating since we can't really chase them since we lock our gate, so we can't jump on them. we can't figure out who they are too since our place is not lit very well.so what my parents did is they just cut the branches that reach outside the gate so the teens won't be tempted to steal them... they'll probably steal from someone else then i really want to catch them though

Children get joy when they steal mangoes. For them it is a challenge.

I posted a poem some months ago titled "thieves" It mentioned the measures one lady was forced to take in order to be rid of mango thieves.

Perhaps you can have a digital cam so that it can record all of it. We have it in one of our houses since we don't go there often. And we can still watch it by the cams since we are away from it.

@lady1993 Here the mangoes is not the most expensive fruits, but also not the cheapest ones yet. And you can buy a simple digital cam with some mangoes

It would be better to buy from you than stealing it.

@lady1993 I do agree on that. Well, some people cannot control themselves.

They must be hungry. Why else would they come out in the dark to steal mangoes off a tree? They're teenagers. They could be doing a lot worse. Like breaking into people's houses. Not saying it's right. I'm just saying.

@lady1993 - My friend advised me to be careful of random stuff you see lying around. Sometimes people with evil intent leave throw stuff near a person's property because they have plans to come back later to do something else. She told me to make sure I remove stuff that does not belong, especially if I know I didn't put it there.

Personally, if they really want Mangoes that bad, they could come ask and maybe get some especially if there are extras. But when you continue to allow someone like that, as in their parents, unless they have no idea to do something like this next thing you know it becomes something bigger and leaves them wondering where did they go wrong to not prevent this.

It is very common for children to steal mangoes or any other fruits , it becomes a challenge for them when people don't allow to pick, but i understand when they cross the limits we don't like it.

yeah, it is fun for them but not for the owners who want to eat the fruit of their labor.

don't they have the idea that it is one of our beliefs that when a food/fruit stolen is eaten, the eater will have stomach ache? probably they don't know, or refuse to believe in this.

Ha these thieves are really a problem, even if you want to catch them its not easy. They are usually good runners you see, they could use this in winning a medal in olympics which they won't

Although I wouldn't dream of stealing anything now as a child we frequently stole strawberries and apples from people's gardens plus peapods , raspberries and potatoes from the local farmers. None of us were starving it was just a bit of fun The people who went to crazy extremes to save their fruit from us just became an even bigger challenge to us we'd sit and plan with childish military style tactics how to get to the prize. I can remember 3 of us getting caught by an elderly guy when we were halfway up his apple tree.We were terrified we were about to be hauled to our parents or the police. The guy actually told us if we wanted apples just to knock the door and he'd give us some as there were more than he and his wife could ever use. He was more worried that one of us would fall and break our necks than the fact we were stealing apples. We never touched his trees again but they'd always give us a few apples if they seen us passing while they were in the garden.

i thought of that too, like if we do something to make it harder for them, that they might try and go inside or whatever that is a very nice man.. my mom gives some fruits to little kids when we have more than enough too

@lady1993 Lol sometimes the secret with teens is to befriend them rather than chase them! If you offer them some fruit the challenge and fun of stealing it is gone! The elderly guy and his wife were lovely people! Even later on as teens we'd stop for a chat with them!
