In a story that will likely draw the ire of gun control fanatics, a pizza delivery driver shot and rubbed out one teenage suspect on Saturday evening in Mesquite Texas. The home where the delivery driver went to on the 1400 block of Springwood Drive around 11:30pm was vacant when two 16 year old teens attempted to rob the driver who was armed with a weapon. The driver shot one of the suspects who later passed away from his wound. The pizza delivery driver told the police in Mesquite the suspect shot him first and he fired back at the suspect in self defense. The second suspect was arrested later by the police in Mesquite Texas. The second suspect face a charge of aggravated robbery. The name of the pizza company was not mentioned in the story from KTVT Dallas Fort Worth or the name of the delivery driver. What boggles my mind is that did the delivery driver call back to the source of the telephone call before going to deliver a pizza at a home that was vacant?.

In practically any state but Texas, the robbery would have been successful and the culprits gotten away to do it again.

I know the saying "Don't mess with Texas." My niece lives in Georgetown Texas with her two children.

what boggles my mind is that you're asking about a call back from a delivery person Purely from what you say a delivery person was doing his job and people attempted to rob him...he had a weapon and defended himself. Where is the issue??????

What I know is any employee who works for either Papa John's or Domino's Pizza they are not allowed to carry any weapons on their possession since the company policy is "Material things you can replace, but not your life."

@Deepizzaguy who cares about company policy??? He was going to be robbed and possibly killed. No idea of the legality but maybe he had a legally held weapon...company policy is irrelevant as legal self defence trumps all. Maybe link to the news story so we can learn the full facts.

With cell phones these days a person can answer from anywhere. A sad situation any way one looks at it.

I'm so very sorry that the pizza delivery driver has to endure the emotional trauma of the situation. I hope he doesn't have long-term PTSD from it. As for the pizza company, if they're dumb enough to fire him for protecting his life as guaranteed under the second amendment to the US Constitution, I hope he sues them. Of course, in Texas he'll get a new job rather quickly.

I doubt the pizza company will fire the driver for self defense from a robber. I agree with you that if he fired, he should sue.

If the kids who planned the robbery gave their own cell phone number, then a call back would not have gone to the vacant house, but to the kid's cell phone, making it appear the order was legit. The good news is one less feral teen out there terrorizing and robbing people.
