Another Museum that I would love to visit is Winterthur Museum, a 200-acre estate located in the Brandywine River Valley in Delaware? Have you ever been there?
Winterthur was originally the home of Henry Francis du Pont, a descendant of Eleuthere Irenee du Pont from France, who built a gunpowder factory near Wilmington, Delaware in 1802. The du Pont family created the huge Du Pont chemical corporation.
This museum has 200 rooms that are decorated with antiques, art and furniture, from past centuries. One of the most interesting things about this museum is that Henry du Pont collected, or I should say, rescued, antique paneling, cabinetry and window frames from homes that were going to be demolished and installed them room by room at Winterthur.
This interior woodwork was from homes that were built between 1640 and 1840. He also found furniture, silver, glass and various fabrics from all over the eastern U.S. And then, the rooms were furnished with art work from many famous artists and craftsmen, including items from the silversmith, Paul Revere and Duncan Phyfe, a furniture maker.
This museum was opened in 1951 and includes over 60 acres of beautiful estate gardens that are a special attraction, in May when the azaleas are in full bloom.
I would love to visit this museum.
The photo is the frozen Delaware River.

It sounds like a fascinating museum. It would take all day, maybe several days, actually, to visit 200 rooms and 60 acres of gardens.

We have a PARK here in Richmond that has hundreds of azaleas. When they are in full bloom, the park is always full of people taking photos. Bryan Park. It's absolutely beautiful.

I have not been there but I think I have heard of this. There is a lot to do in the Brandywine Valley, but the traffic around Philly is not good at all.

Traffic is always a problem around big cities, I guess. I've been to Philadelphia but it was several years ago, like 40 years ago. My cousin lived there for awhile and I went to visit her.

Do you have a museum in Roseburg? We have several here in the Richmond, Virginia and Petersburg, Virginia area. I live in between Richmond and Petersburg.

I've heard about it and have some info on it but since you wrote about it then I won't. The rooms are all different and they say one room is in Chinese-style and red. I sure would love seeing all that.
