Can you help me find my missing muse?

Please, engage me in conversation about anything. I'll reply. I can't seem to get my muse going this afternoon. I saw my Tuesday kid client for a the last time a week ago, and decided to give myself the afternoon off this week, before meeting my next new client. Clinical Group Supervision was fun this morning, but all I've done since then was eat lunch with a colleague and then sit around like a sloth. Here are the things I could be doing: a) working on that console stereo, which is partially oiled (see foreground) and just sitting there under the eaves near my front door; b) grading papers for my class; c) restringing my Martin guitar, which hasn't been restrung since I bought it; d) practicing some guitar; e) calling a Case Manager or two to discuss clients and get some billable hours without leaving the house; f) going cycling; g) writing a MyLot post. Instead, I sit here sipping coffee and starting at my computer screen. Will you help The Horse get back on track?

OK, here's the plan. I will case managers until I get in touch with one. That way I'll feel "productive." Then I'll start, but not finish, a progress note. That will give me "permission" to so something selfish, like restring my guitar.

@TheHorse Ah well, maybe next time. It takes a lot of discipline to be relaxed about doing nothing.

As I am doing the same thing, it's hard to help you, but I am ready to chat with everyone who is in the right mood to write something interesting.

@TheHorse Yes, your friend in the dream could represent you. I saw my grandfather in a dream last night, he was burning something in my fireplace, here in my house. I think that this is only a dream, but I know we have too many papers and we should start to clean up the house.

After I teach my class this morning, I'll have more time for discusion. I actually did get inspired yesterday, but I never did get to restring my guitar. What are some things that are on your mind, but that you're not quite motivated to write about? I just had a dream that a friend of mine was performing at a large venue, but everyone packed up and wasn't listening. Could my friend have represented me? Am I feeling unheard somewhere?

@nanette64 Do you play an instrument? I LOVE Jimi. I'm learning Hey Joe. Jimi's version is my favorite. I can't be as "bad-assed" as Jimi, but I can try.

@TheHorse I use to play the piano but that's been ages ago. My husband had a guitar that I taught myself to play but had to hock it for bail money. My Mom was an excellent guitar player. She use to play and sing country for Veterans.

@TheHorse I love it. I'm surprised the Cockatiel didn't decide to help you play. I love the guitar, so my favorite artists are: BB King, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Roy Clark and Elvis. I'm a little versatile; what do you think?

You have too much on your plate. Take a breather and do nothing. You can sit back and think about all the Seinfeldisms we use in our daily speech, not that there's anything wrong with it.

That's a great idea, not that there's anything wrong with great ideas. I was going to go rock climbing and then do close-up photographs of a black widow spider at my friend's house, but I think I have to get a boil lanced instead. Can you come by and help me seal my wedding invitations?

I think guitar practice will relax your mind and help get you back on track.

Heh. I haven't gotten there yet. But I did call some case managers, arrange a brief meeting with a favorite client, talk to one client's dad, and forward a couple of favorite songs to a colleague.

I couldn't quite do it. I went and saw a kid client I'll restring my guitar if I get my papers graded.

Nice! It's just a touch too hot. I'm sitting at my desk, in shorts and no t-shirt, slightly sticking to myself. How's the weather there? Heh heh. I'll add what I've checked off my list so far if someone else comments. I want to keep you in suspense.

@KristenH Ah, gonna be cool (50s and 60s) here for about five days. I'll Just spill the beans here. I started calling parents and case manager "just to get something done." That inspired me to see a kid at his house. So I wound up being "productive." Over the next couple of days I got the other stuff done, except for restringing my guitar.

By now, you're probably back with the flow. Otherwise get going on something. Maybe think about washing the kitchen floor. That should persuade you to do something else.

What I actually did was call a couple of parents and Case Managers. That inspired me to go see a kid I usually see on Mondays. It turned out to be a great outing.

@YouKnowWho I used to review guitars for Epinions. Let me know your budget, and I will make a recommendation. A person doesn't need a $2500 Martin to practice and get better.
