This isn't the first time I have dreamt this.

Now you won't get me telling you the exact details of this dram, because I honestly don't remember it. However, this morning, when it was still fresh, I remember thinking that I had had the dream many times before.
I know that it has always differed slightly, but I have had it before. I am certain of it. It could be deja vu, I admit, but whatever it is... it's compelling.
I recently read a theory stating that Deja Vu is the result of an alternate universe (and thusly an alternate you) having done something very similar, or exactly the same to what you had just done yourself.
I don't know how true that theory is, or whether I can honestly believe it. I think I've also read that it (deja vu) could be the result of a past life.
Who is to say? We can all theorize on what deja vu is, or why we have recurring (if not slightly differing) dreams but all it is, and will ever be, are theories.
The dream I had last night featured three children, all of varying ages, with a male child being the eldest. I can't remember if it was two boys and one girl, or two girls and one boy but I feel strongly that it was the latter.
I remember the boy having to take on a protective / guardian role temporarily, even as he struggled to meet the demands that role faces.
Anyway, I experienced a jumble of emotions throughout the dream, as in certain parts I was the onlooker while in other (parts) I was one of the children...
What do you think to Deja Vu, Dreams, and past life theories?

I have strange dreams. I dreamed a few nights ago that my fiance was doing scientific experiments on me. He was somehow on my back doing the tests. Also in the dream was Christmas figurines going down a road.

That is quite a weird dream. Could your back have been itchy by any chance?
I once dreamt my ex husband was Trivette (From Walker, Texas Ranger) and was trying to kill me.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I might have been thinking of the show The Magicians because a few episodes they had demons in their backs.

I have a lot of premonition type dreams. In my youth, it used to be dreams that were nearly exactly what would happen. Now it seems to be just dreams on a certain subject, and I know that whatever the subject is (I.E. Work, family life) it will be a difficult day ahead...

@ScribbledAdNauseum I also had more specific dreams when I was younger, I was able to see the events exactly as they would happen. It's a bit more complex now.

I'm not sure about deja vu, I just know it's a disconcerting experience. My theory on dreams where we don't know the people is that we're experiencing someone else's real life. Perhaps they dream of our real life too.

It could be that. I've read that the people we dream of, regardless of if we recognize them or not, are people we have actually seen before... I don't know, could be that we are experiencing someone else's real life.. How sad that would be, with some of the dreams I have had.

It can be annoying, especially if they are somewhat scary...

Whatever Deja Vu is, I've experienced that glitch in The Matrix enough to know that it's real.

I guess there are many things out there that can't be explained logically

Well I do get deja vu but nothing about past life. My dreams as a child were more of the adventure kind because I loved reading detective stories. Oh those were the days.
