A Milestone of a Sort

This was the day of hubby's last radiation treatment. He knew it would be more powerful, and take a little longer. As things go, he got home two full hours later than he has been, so he was gone from the house thirteen hours. This treatment involved more poking and prodding and repositioning so it did take longer and require the presence of the doctor for the whole thing. He came home with a survey to fill out, and an appointment for a three month check up. He also has a fun little printed certificate. He has been bestowed a Master's Degree in radiation absorption. All tongue in cheek of course. It will be a good summer, that is for sure. No more extra miles to get treatments.

That's great! You know ever since you said you thought you talked to me back November about him having cancer I'm starting to think, maybe she did! I need to write things down because apparently I forget important things. So now I do it! I'm so glad he's through. My grandmother said after her mastectomy the radiation was the worst.

When my sister had cancer I am not sure which was worse. She had to stop the chemo at one point because it was killing her kidneys. She had radiation to her face and neck and she said the metal in her dental work made radiation burns. There was very little side effects for hubby, no burns at all. Just frequent and urgent trips to the bathroom. I know TMI.

@Hatley He was diagnosed in November with prostate cancer. One doctor said it was worse than the other one. It is easy to miss some posts with us posting twenty four hours a day.

They will have to schedule a new biopsy to be 100 % certain, and so far no one has mentioned that. He has an appointment with his regular doc at the end of June and his PSA score will be one indication of how he is doing. It is a type of cancer that is very slow growing and easily contained.

Yes, as far as we can tell. He had no symptoms that he had noticed but some tests indicated cancer and biopsies showed some cells. The only way to really know will be another biopsy, but no one has talked about that at this time.

We feel pretty confident. He said he decided that he would do his part by getting treatment, but he also is trusting that God will do His part by helping the treatment be effective.
